Contrary to what their heavily reverbed voices might indicate, Ghosts of Jupiter are not from Jupiter.
It's the Grand Trunk Railroad that the boys from Flint lived nearby, not Grand Funk Railroad.
It is unknown to me whether or not any of the boys from Nick Talbot's Gravenhurst were from the Bedfordshire town of the same name.
I'm not sure if the Kiwis in the band Grumblewood have any connection the parish in North Ormsby near Nottingham or not.
I'm pretty sure that Guns of the Seneca have neither a connection to a place (such as the town Seneca Falls in upstate New York) or the nation that was once a member of the Haudenosaunee "Six Nations".

The members of Harlem River Drive did, in fact, have a close association to the Manhattan road that ran along the west banks of the Harlem River--part of which had formerly been a Speedway.
Hatfield was, in fact, related to The North. All of it.
Hécénia definitely sounds like it should be a place. Apparently they collected and, perhaps, wrote scrolls.
The Hidria Spacefolk are a group of executives from one of the world's leading automotive and industrial technologies corporations, based in Ljubljana, Slovakia, who were inspired to start jamming together after they encountered a particular local band while on holiday in a Finnish resort town one year (1995). (The local band was Kingston Wall.)
The Hindustani Jazz Sextet did, in fact, regularly camp out in the borderlands of Kashmir (northern India) and southern Pakistan during their twice-daily meditations and psy-travels in 1966. Their "peace-keeping missions" were later sublimated into their challenging forms of East-West jazz musics which used very odd time signatures like "two-thirds/four" time (11/8).

When Ken Ayers was holding auditions for his Whole World band, they were open to anyone … in the whole, wide world.
The Knight Area is rather vast--but also rather exclusive and anachronistic.

Loonypark is neither a real place nor is it a place you'd want to go. (Probably.)
The Lost World Band does, in fact, return to their 1992 homeland between the release of their albums.
Contrary to popular demand, Lunar Dunes is not from the Moon.

After all this I feel I can mention that Ostzonensuppenwürfelmachenkrebs are not actually from the Soviet Zone or Eastern Germany (GDR), Ostzone in German (slightly derogatorily), but from Hamburg. The band name doesn't suggest otherwise anyway, it says "stock cubes from the Ostzone cause cancer" (which surely they wouldn't have said had they actually lived there).

Midlake don't really know where Midlake is; three of the band members think that it's a clever acronym using letters form the band members' names.

 From Völklingen, the members of the band Neuschwanstein chose to name their collective musical effort after an expensive castle made by a 19th Century regional king in central Europe. The band members probably romanticized about the romantic Romantic Era's art, music, and architecture by gravitating to the creation of symphonic prog of the Genesis-ELP nature.
No Man's Land are very careful to tip-tow around wherever they are, wherever they're from.  
North Sea Radio Orchestra have a very interesting yet unstable aqueous base.

Members of the band Oregon met in 1970 in Oregon--at the University of Oregon. Two of the members were actually from Oregon and, thus, Oregonians. Like their music, they are very unoriginal thinkers.
Řresund Space Collective tried to come up with a band name that would express their effort to form a bridge between members from different nations. 
Members of Orphaned Land aren't quite sure where they're from.
Members of Our Solar System are quite certain where they come from.
Cosmic Corn Cob & His Amazing Ozark Mountain Daredevils were from Springfield, Missouri, very near to Ozark, MO, the Ozark chain of lakes, and the Ozark Mountains.

The Louisville Symphony Orchestra has many members not from Louisville, likewise the New York Metropolitan Opera has many members from outside New York City.
The SF Jazz Collective has many members not from San Francisco and no one in the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra is from Lincoln Center.

Dukes of the Orient include former members of Asia, but alas I don't believe any of them are from the Orient.

French TV is as American as Apple Pie and Chevrolet.   And for that matter Apple Pie is from Russia. LOL

Alaska is from Pennsylvania.  And there is an AOR band also called Alaska that is from the UK.
