Nice to see a thread about Maiden here!
Well, Paul may not be the greatest singer Maiden ever had, but my favourite album by them happens to be ''Killers'', and my favourite song ''Phantom of the Opera''. Paul had a very distinctive voice that worked perfectly for the early material. ''Murders in the Rue Morgue'', ''Remember Tomorrow'', ''Transylvania'', ''Genghis Khan'', ''Strange World'', ''Purgatory''... Oh man, too many great songs! For some reason, I always thought the guitar riffs were a lot more creative, technical and diverse on these first two albums, and let's not forget the unbelievable drumwork by Clive Burr! Seriously, that man was a machine, much better than Nicko (who's no slouch himself
)... I also really like their stuff with Blaze, especially The X Factor, a really, really fine album! I wish people would listen to the non-Bruce albums more, and give them the credit they deserve! But of course, the Bruce era has its fair share of masterpieces, "Somewhere In Time'' being my personal favorite. I can totally see why he is the most popular as a frontman, as he is a superb singer and such a nice guy too. Paul, on the other hand... Doesn't really look like the kind of guy you'd enjoy being around too much, especially these days. But he was very talented, no doubt. Di'Anno Maiden!!! \m/
