Also, 'Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast'- which is the only weak link on 'Atom Heart Mother' to these ears. I really like 'If'!

'Seamus' defines the word 'filler'...

I wouldn't nominate anything from 'Momentary Lapse Of Reason'- it's hardly great, but it's not terrible; just ordinary...

'The Final Cut' is hardly a bad album either- it's a moving album and although Waters domineers it, there's some wonderful songs on it- sure, it's not my fave album (nor is 'The Wall') ever, but it's still a damn good one.

Why then would 4 people work together to make the song "Seamus" if it is filler, and played many times live, notably on the Pompeii film.

Seamus takes many listens to enjoy, and I like "Dogs of war" a little, I wouldn't say it's thier worst. "Grand Vizier's garden party" is very good and prog for a drummer to record solo, especially when all he can do is percussion, and some melotron effects.. I bet if you asked Phill Collins to record a solo track with only percussion, he would not even come close to creativity, or originality. I know it wouldn't be prog either. Nick thinking of using his wife to play flute is genious too. Alan's psycodelic breakfast is also great, IMO. I found many reasons for me to like it.

Worst song for me might be a new machine.

My candidates for worse song:

- Vera / Bring the Boys Back Home
- Seamus
- Anything from Ummagumma Studio album except for The Narrow Way and Grantchester Meadows
- POW R TOC H

But the real worst songs from the Floyd are:

- Vegetable Man
- Scream Thy Last Scream

Anyone who's actually heard these rare turds, know what I'm talking about
Marmalade...I like marmalade.

For me it has to be Another Brick In Wall as the bass line just bugs the hell out of me!

I am with you on the studio part of Ummagumma.

It sounds like they went into the studio and recorded themselves falling over a few times whilst banging a couple of spoons together!

Possibly becuase it was so over played when i was a little kid. For me the bass line just has a bit too much of swing feel to it!?

Seamus is not just a a very bad Pink Floyd track, it is a very bad track. The remainder of Meddle is excellent, but it is not a long album and did not require filling with this.

Dogs of War is a beautiful piece...And A Momentary Lapse Of Reason is one of my favourite albums by Pink Floyd.Seamus doesn't stand out very much in Meddle,I don't find it such an important piece.

I am a massive Floyd fan however I have to say they have done some real sh*t especially in their early days and on Momentary Lapse.

I think Pow R Toc R off Piper is shocking. I never listen to Ummaguma studio it is a disgrace. And On the Run is just a huge blemish on a great record

Music you say? I dont consider a bunch of weird noses for 5 minutes music. Pink Floyd themselves have said that they really didnt know what they were doing on this album.

And on the run is a super track you say? What were the songs that you dont like?

Its the noises that make a little bit of psychedelism in Ummagumma...

For "noises" albums that are considered music, check Beaubourg & Invisible Connections by Vangelis...

I don't like Fletcher Memorial Home and other from The Final Cut.

Wow, you like "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" _more_ than "Summer 68"???

Sure, "Summer '68" is more or less a pop song, but "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" is just embarassing. You'd think after the drugs wore off they would have realized it was sh*t!

that album gets bash WAY too much. and it deserves non of it. sure, it is nowhere near like other Floyd in style, but when you think of what waters was trying to do and the emothional background and the lyrics, the album is no less than 4 stars. think of it as a waters solo album.

Exactly!  I've always thought of it as a Waters solo album.  As such, it is pretty good.

Not very proggy though.
