Not a whole lot. Woke up at the buttcrack of 11:30 to find the rest of my family was going to Frisch's for lunch (an old-fashioned burger chain/restaurant). Disapprove Although they're bringing me back a burger. Big smile

And you?

I could damn well do for a pint and a burger right about now.

I'm doing all right, I guess.  Getting sh*t ready to see the attorney tomorrow morning (I think I told you about that situation).

Well, it is meant for cats, not for humansLOL!

Rico, what kind of folklore are you studying? I believe you know I have some expertise in the field.

Silly me. LOL

Romanian folklore of course. During the 1st semester, we studied the musical aspects (melody, rhythms, verses), and now we're looking into different customs and practices (a general walkthrough, with more music-related details). The course usually extended another year with more insight on Acoustics and Organology, but it was reduced to just one year recently.

My grade for this semester's activity in Harmony, with all the unexpected quizzes and pain-in-the-... homeworks, is 9.81 (out of 10). Pretty cool. Cool Now all I have to do is get a perfect 10 in the examen (which will only consist of harmonizing a given bass, with a bit of modulations,, something I can handle well enough), and I'll ace one of the courses that gave me goosebumps during the first semester (because of the wacky teacher).

It's a shame, though, that we study Harmony only one year (this one). Considering that it's a Conservatoire, I find it ridiculous that it's not one of the courses you do till graduation, specializing or at least mastering it in-depth.. We did roughly two years in high-school, and now to do only one here...Not pro!

We'll be moving on to Counterpoint the next year. Writing fugues and stuff, wweeeee...! Cool

I've sort of been reading about elements of Folklore myself recently.  More related to Theology than anything though, mind you  I saw a programme about Beowulf on television too.  Very learned stuff indeed.

The world Folklore is only about 150 years old. Wink  The way it's spread around the world since William John Thoms first used it, is phenomenal.

Very learned stuff? LOL

Yes it has. We moreover use terms like "popular" for our cultural tradition, rural life, music and forms of expressions.
