Would you believe I have not heard an entire Genesis LP in its entirety until now? I'm surprised at how heavy it gets at parts, the first track actually reminding me a bit of Deep Purple. I fact, combined with the "Victorian Britain" aesthetic of the band and the pronounced folk influence it gives me somewhat similar vibes as Jethro Tull except much more "white-collar".

The one David Bowie album to flirt most extensively with the then-emerging heavy metal scene of its day. In archetypical 1970s glam rock fashion, it's very campy and cartoony but in a rather classy manner. Kind of has a similar vibe as the surrealistic science-fiction comics that Jean "Moebius" Giraud was drawing at the time, which makes me want to listen to Ziggy Stardust or Diamond Dogs. (I'm kind of a novice when it comes to DB)

I blindly bought a Circus album thinking I'd get this and ended up with an album featuring Mel Collins' debut appearance

Bowie
's another classic artist whose discography I haven't explored until now, its sheer size and diversity scaring me off. Turns out that was a foolish thing to get turned off by, what I've heard of his early-1970s combines catchy gritty hard-edged rock with a fantastic sense of flash and creativity, plus some very period-appropriate decadence and "out there"-ness.
