Thanks for telling me It doesn't skip on my other records and I watch it and the tone arm doesn't jump or move. |

I don't have the manual for my turntable. It was my great grandfather's before he died. |

Anyway, you better be sure that the adjustments of stylus pressure and anti-skating are correct. I think, you can find online the manual for your system, or adjustment instructions on YouTube. They're quite similar on many different turntables.

You'll need to tell us more about the turntable. What make and model? Also what cartridge are you using and do you know how old it is? If it's pretty old that is probably your source of the skipping, called mistracking. As well the cartridge will damage the record. I can give you the particulars of how to set it up once I know what ya got.

We've heard about it before. It's Teac GF-680 manufactured in 2004. |

I have a Teac Nostalgia GF-680. I have no idea what cartridge I am using. Or what that is in the first place... It is likely very old. But every other record I have has always worked and sounded perfect so I am not sure if it is my turntable. |

The manual says: "Stylus should last about 50 hours under normal use.", but there might not be any cartridge adjustment. Edited by David_D - April 23 2023 at 15:09 |

Ok now I remember.......Yea does not look like it has a counter weight. At minimum I would replace the stylus, whatever it has will not last very long it seems.

I saw that, that has to be extremely conservative, that would be only 50 records.....I would guess about 200 hours. Still not desirable.....

So I need to buy a new stylus? Is there a specific one I should look at? Are there good and bad ones?

Well there are.....but I think with your tonearm the cartridge is part of the tonearm. This stylus is a sapphire tip, not gonna perform well and more importantly it can ruin your records......Buy this one from LP Gear, they make these upgraded ones for your tonearm. Has a diamond tip which is much better performance and will last 10x as long if not more. Make sure you clean your records.... |

It has to be one which fit with your tonearm, and I don't know about which possibilities there are. |

How do I know if the one Catcher10 said will fit? What does it mean if the cartridge is part of the tonearm? Is that bad?

The manual states replacement stylus is STL 103.....You can call LP Gear if you still have doubts.

Ok I will get that one when I can. Should I avoid playing records until I get it? |

That's your call as don't know the age of the stylus. If it has never been replaced, I would.....The records are worth more than the replacement stylus....

Won't it start to sound bad before I starts messing up my records? So far every record I play has been perfect but one I ordered. I checked yesterday and other records don't skip. |
