I'm the reader, I therefore resent chuckles being had at the readers' expense. It's like a filmmaker including a ten-second-clip mid-movie and then going, 'NOT!'

Besides, it's philosophy, the point is to make a clear, fluent, strong, engaging and effective argument, and if you're manipulating the language to the point where it sounds pretty unnatural (well, generally the 'he said' is put in in a more sensible place, and it actually doesn't have three 'he's' in it) for no reason other than your own entertainment and to give a wink to the reader, you're losing sight of that goal of clarity.

Even worse if it means that I can't rely on the main clause of any really complex sentence he sometimes pulls out to actually mean what it says.

Never been to a strip club and honestly have no plans to change that.
Never broken a bone which is amazing because I used to skateboard.
One of those (you can guess which) I still do fairly regularly.

Listening to this album, I can now hear where Astrid Proll got their influence from.  They always said they were influenced by Circle but this track is very much like how I'd imagine AP going on future albums.
