I was watching Beyond the Lighted Stage last night on PalladiaHD..........The Time Machine should be excellent!!
Although I understand picking Cleveland, since that seems to be where they got their FM radio breakthru, but also kinda a slap in the face to RRHoF........

On November 21, 2011, Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) celebrates the legacy of Canadian rock trio Rush with the release of three separate six-disc box sets which together spans their entire historic Mercury Records recording career. Each "Sector" contains five of their 15 Mercury albums in chronological order, all transferred to high resolution 96kHz/24-bit audio and digitally remastered for optimal quality. In addition, each volume includes an exclusive booklet packed with unpublished photos, original album lyrics and credits, and features one album from each set specially remixed on DVD in high resolution 96kHz/24-bit, 5.1 surround sound and stereo, compatible with both DVD-Audio players and DVD-Video players. Each album is packaged in a replica vinyl mini-jacket of the original album release with all three box sets forming a Rush CD road case.

'TIME MACHINE 2011: Live In Cleveland' is an evening with Rush performing their classic hits and features the legendary 'Moving Pictures' album, performed live in its entirety. Released in 1981, 'Moving Pictures' is their most successful album, certified 4x Platinum, and features some of the band's most well known songs and perennial radio favorites, including "Tom Sawyer," "Limelight" and the Grammy®-nominated instrumental "YYZ." Captured in April, 2011 in Cleveland during the renowned trio's extensive world tour, 'TIME MACHINE 2011: Live In Cleveland' marks the band's first live concert filmed in the United States. The choice to record in Cleveland was a deliberate nod of gratitude to the first city to support Rush on its airwaves, as former WMMS DJ Donna Halper is widely credited for helping break the band in 1974 by spinning "Working Man." The reinterpreted live version of "Working Man" was the encore closer on the Time Machine tour and is included on this DVD. In addition to the 26-song concert set, Rush's notorious concept tour videos are included: The first short film, entitled "The `Real' History of Rush Episode No. 2 `Don't Be Rash,'" and the opening second set video, "The `Real' History of Rush Episode No. 17'...and Rock and Roll is My Name.'" The bonus material features outtakes from the short films, an alternate film version video for "Tom Sawyer,"and two rare pieces of Rush live footage from the vault: "Need Some Love" from Laura Second Secondary School with original drummer John Rutsey (1974) and "Anthem" from Passaic New Jersey (1976).

Those Sector albums keep popping up in emails and every time I go to Amazon. I already have all of their albums on CD, but it is so tempting to break the bank to get these new versions, which I absolutely do not need.

I am not going to do it. I just don't need to invest in something that appears to be just a money maker for the band. Even though Rush is my favorite band, they have shrunk my bank account enough. ![]() |

The strange thing about this package is that they offer only 1 album in 5.1. Its ridiculous to ask to buy the whole thing when they are going to release all cds in 5.1 eventually, so we are going to buy the same cd one more time with another technology and more stuff to keep the thing interesting. The marketing business continue to take people like muppet... ![]() |

I'm not a 5.1 channel fan, I'm pretty old school and just love and get more pleasure from a nice 2 channel setup. So I don't get into these special issues. Although I did buy the MP 30th Anniversary issue back in June I think...But I needed a new MP copy, my last CD was trashed.
I did purchase the live 2011 Moving Pictures vinyl last week.......That's pretty nice since it is just that album.
I am looking forward to any of the post Power Windows albums being issued on vinyl.......I am sure Clockwork Angels will be issued in vinyl. Power Windows is the last studio album I have in vinyl, everything else CD..... Edited by Catcher10 - November 17 2011 at 17:31 |

Geddy interview from Billboard
I certainly would. We really enjoyed that whole experience. We played for three hours -- you can tuck a 45-minute album in there and still play lots of new things and lots of other things. If we were really out of our minds, we would attempt something like [1978's] "Hemispheres." If Rush has a cult following, within that cult following there's a following for "Hemispheres" [laughs]. I'm not sure we're up for that one, but I could see us doing "2112." Edited by Catcher10 - December 12 2011 at 21:03 |

That track list from the OP looks a lot like my high school CD wallet haha.
Speaking of Rush, I just used $20 I received for my birthday (not expected, as I'm 26 years old) to buy Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres from Best Buy @ $8 a piece. And I gotta say...even though their employees know jack sh*t about music and the CD section is almost nil, they had a good run of classic Rush. May have to return after the gift-giving season. |

I bought it several months ago at my local record store, just trying to spread the love to a local business. He has been good to me, he has ordered a couple vinyls for me and held them. Moving Pictures Live, DT-ADToE and DT-SFAM.....So giving him an extra $10 for the CD pkg I was fine with.

Another Canadian Rush fan here! This band is probably the best Canadian band ever. They are certainly as good,if not actually better than,Pink Floyd. Their newest video and CD are both awesome. This band seems to get better with age.

http://news.2112.net/2011/12/alex-lifeson-update-on-clockwork-angles.htmlAlex Lifeson Update On Clockwork Angles - Guitar World January 2012 IssueThe January issue of Guitar World includes a new interview with Alex Lifeson where he discusses Clockwork Angels. Here's a portion of the article, thanks to RushIsABand for the headsup!
... Alex Lifeson stops short of calling Rush's upcoming Clockwork Angels a concept record, but he does admit that a theme runs through most the songs. "We have Caravan and BU2B; both of which we released already and played on the Time Machine tour," he says, referring to the group's extensive 2010-2011 outing. "Those two, along with three other songs, form a suite. The story of Clockwork Angels is in those five tracks." Longtime Rush fans, who grew up on such multi-song narratives as 2112 and Hemispheres, will no doubt applaud the group's return to its prog-rock roots. They'll also be thrilled to learn that the band isn't paying mind to the length of its compostitions. "We're definitely stretching out," Lifeson says. "Most of the songs are over six minutes. We're having fun with them, seeing where they want to go." The guitarist estimates that Rush has eight songs finished. One track, however, is putting up a fight. "We wrote it, scrapped it, then rewrote it and shelved it again," Lifeson says, laughing. "Right now, we're still considering it. Something's there that we don't want to lose." The band is working once again with prodcucer Nick Raskulinecz, who in addition to helming albums for the Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains and Evanesence, oversaw Rush's 2007 release, Snakes & Arrows. "Nick is fantastic," Lifeson says. "He's very enthusiastic, has great ideas, gets incredible sounds, and he's so adaptable to our twists and turns." That includes a more stripped-down, instrumental approach. "The last few records have been quite produced, with many layers of guitars and vocals," he says. "This time, we'd like to keep things simple and direct.
