Well I would say Neo/Symphonic.
They sounds like Circus Maximus, not that hard. (Same vocalist than CM-easy to notice) |

I've listened to two tracks of their album Lost Reveries, and they seem rather close to Black Metal. They throw in some spaerical synth passages and some Industrial, but IMO it's not enough to move them out of the Extreme category. IMO any Death/Black/Thrash based band should remain in Extreme unless they're really experimenting with other styles "big time", so that you really cannot call them a Death/Black/Thrash band anymore. It's obvious that all the Extreme bands are experimental to some extent, that's why they were listed as Prog in the first place. |

Mike
The new chart is looking good, and I'm starting to have fewer reservations about the whole idea. Just some comments: I'm not certain about the term "Epic" - I think it's a little too vague, although to be fair, I can't think of anything better. And Veni Domine (again ) - they're widely regarded as being a doom metal band, so Doom/Dark rather than Gothic? There are also a few of the possible additions that I'm not convinced are prog, but as that's not the focus right now, I'll leave it for now. |

Thanks Citanul, I moved Veni Domini. It doesn't matter if they're prog or not now, they have been accepted by the archives and I guess we have to live with them. They can still be moved to prog related later, if enough people agree. I'm not really qualified, because I only heard samples. I also don't like the term "Epic" ... I'm looking for alternatives. But I am convinced that the list of bands makes sense ... |

I wasn't commenting on whether Veni Domine are prog are not, and
they're actually often described as a "progressive doom metal"
band. It was their placement in the Gothic category that I was
questioning.
I have no problems with the bands you have in the "Epic" category, just the name. I thought possible "Dark" as that would fit the Doom/Dark and Gothic bands, but it doesn't really fit the Experimental bands (although some of them it might). So I guess it's not really any better than "Epic". |

I don't know ... I wouldn't make any changes right now ... but I'm not an expert on all of the bands. |

I added the band Unexpect to the list ... one track is available for download, and it shows how a band can be progressive AND black. If only they made one full album like that ...

Now that I list new bands in the left side bar, you can suggest as many bands as you want, and I will add them. Just remember that by listing the bands I'm not saying that they will be added to the archives (it is not my decision). I'm just add them to the list, if possible I link to their homepage and suggest a genre. Then I will listen to all sorts of feedback and change the entry accordingly.
