It's a strange one, eh fellas? I just bought it blind from one of Greg Walker's most recent updates, but for some reason, Jim, I had the feeling you reviewed their previous album? I might have the wrong band altogether?

Sagi, I'll try and whip up a review for it over the next couple of days, so you can find out more about it. I loved that it still had these punchy little outbursts, quite wild and unpredictable!

Yes, Pierre! I heard the music first and thought `Wow, I like this!', and then those strong vocals come in, very intimidating and reckless!

I found a few live clips of them too:

Jim, Pierre, Sagi...listening to that studio track and this live clip, can you think of any similar RPI bands they remind you of? Sometimes I'm reminded of other bands I've heard before, but cant quite put my finger on it....

Altare T. go sligthly in the direction of bands like Area or D.e.M.
but stay original.

This Album was one of my faves of the last year. I also liked the debut
album very much, but it is somewhat different.

The debut was less avant jazz and had some more hard - blues rock elements, which made it easier to digest. But both albums are great,
and I think it's a good thing to have some development.

It looks like there is a solo Album by the vocalist also, I coudn't find it yet (but there are some Clips on Youtube)

From the debut:

Thank H, and yes, Area was one I instantly thought of in some ways as well.

I'm going to try and review it shortly, don't think there's any on the Archives so far.

Ahh, Maurizio, but the question is:

Which of the two Quella Vecchia Locanda albums is the best?!

Jim (Finnforest) loves the second, I like the first more!

The answer is....they are BOTH amazing!

Hard to choose between the two but I think I prefer the debut just a little more.

I love most the first (also for affective issues), although the second has a very much sought sound, and finally a great product!

I quite like this. Prego Micheal!
This song has a very lounge inspired feel to it, and I can already tell that these guys would be a real treat to see live. I'd definitely be one of the guys drinking 8 long espressos while foot tapping the ground till I put a hole through it. This is well done, well composed. Jazz RPI? I think so. The song gets kind of moody in the last 2 minutes. I was not expecting that at all. Love surprises like that.
Also. When the saxophone and bass are going haywire they remind me so much if the beloved, King Crimson.
Can't go wrong there.
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Hi ABB,

really liked your review of the Aurora Lunare Album.

This one was a pleasent surprise and I have it spining in my car
for some time now.

Another good new one is Entity - Il falso centro. Apart from sometimes awfull drum sounds, it's a very nice dicovery. They sometimes remind me a little of Balletto di Bronzo.

Thanks H! Yes, I loved that Aurora Lunare album! You can tell they're a very pleasing Italian prog band, the keyboard overload is quite dazzling! Just a lovely sound overall, and no bad tracks!

I'm about to listen to the Entity one shortly! It's fallen to me to write the biography, CD details and review, so I'll be doing that very soon! Just a bit sick at the moment, but hopefully I can get them added fairly quickly
