@ Christian
Yes, of course there are many options. However, people who join this poll should also show some interest in the lyrics in the traditional sense. LOL

@ Lorenzo

Cool, I'm looking forward to hosting the Asia poll! Sure, the more people join the better. But Asia is a huge continent and offers a wide range of music and artists to choose from. There is not just East or Southeast Asia, you have oriental Asia and Eurasian countries as well. In case of bands not all members must be necessarily Asian. A collaboration with an Asian artist is another option. Think of John McLauglin and his Mohavishnu Orchestra f.e. Besides, wasn't there an Africa poll in the past?

About posting the original song lyrics, I can't see a problem here. If we post videos, lyrics should be allowed as well. They are publicly available and they are for private use only.

I believe that it was that we could post a link to a translation or lyrics, but not post the lyrics, themselves?

Hey Nickie, thanks a lot for your kind words! Mum will need some time to recover completely but she'll be allright, fingers crossed. How are you? We have a crazy summer this year, in some places it doesn't stop raining in others there are wildfires!

I guess, it's six of one and half a dozen of the otherIt's all about the purpose of the use. If it is not commercial all is fine. For reason of space, I'd suggest to post just the link though. lol

Crazy here, too.  I live in the Pacific Northwest US, it's been fires and heat here.  Luckily, no fires near me, I hope that trend continues.  May you also stay safe.

I'll leave that to the participants. This is not necessarily about the lyrics, it can also be about how the whole thing sounds - the spoken word used as music/sound if you want. It's up to the participants to use their own criteria.

About the lyrics of the songs: Logan says we shouldn't post the original English copyrighted ones (translations I think are ok)

Thanks for bringing this up Lorenzo.  As he says, we shouldn't post the copyrighted lyrics without permission from the artist, however we can post snippets or one or two lines.  The best thing to do is to post a link that we can click on that will take us to another site that has the lyrics legally posted.

This is always a good thing to have the translations available too and I would recommend that in order to better appreciate the song.

There was a poll on Latin American music, and one on African music, but in both cases Western bands could also be selected. For example, I opened the poll on Latin American music and posted a tango-style song written by an Italian singer. The goal is to post the authors we like the most outside of progarchives, and therefore we need to be broad enough in the themes.

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

Ok, if this is your approach I will respect that of course. For me personally part of the fun is to do a little bit of research myself but everyone can do it his way. The main thing is that people join and enjoy the music. Smile

I'm glad everything's ok in your region. The situation in California is worrying and has been for several years now!

Dear friends,

This article was born as a memorandum, a place where you can find the link to all our Interactive poll, and where you can find the three most voted songs (three or more, depending on whether there are equal merits).

I originally conceived it for myself, to remind me of our I.Polls and of the songs I voted for. In this way, I can looking for some of these artists, new to me, and listen to their music in the future. I also took the opportunity to put my nominations (to avoid repeating myself to putting the same ones twice!) and the votes they got. And since someone might be interested in having a list of my nominations, I also put some albums, linked to the artists I nominated, which I recommend to anyone who liked that music.

If anyone else wanted to make a list of his nominations (and relative advices), I'd be happy.

Enjoy!

Lorenzo

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

What a tragedy! If we want things to get back to normal, things will have to change. We have to change!

I am going to try and participate in this Talk Talk interactive poll, but I can’t guarantee it. Pretty busy at the moment, and my priorities when it comes to music need to be clearing my review queue for TPA, and listening to the evaluations for the prog-metal team. Given I still like to try and listen to my own music to wind down, that doesn’t leave too much time - but I will try and find some! If you don’t see me, you know why….. 🤪

Technical help needed.

Hey guys, I need your assistance. I forgot how to post video links and links of other internet websites in a thread (f.e. lyrics translations). It's been a while since I participated in a poll here and I just can't remember how to do it. If possible show me an example instead of trying to explain with words.

Here is a youtube link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=il6o1x9nxCY

Which part of the link do I need and what exactly do I have to add at the beginning and end of that part of the link? I put this:

Thanks in advance for your support!

Oh well, you deleted your message in the other thread so I will post my reply here and delete mine there too...:

^ You can write the code of the video, that what comes after the "watch?=" and before an eventual ampersand - so here it is il6o1x9nxCY -, between the "tube" brackets: [ tube ] code [ /tube ] (this all without the spaces!). That should work.

(when you click on the upper right hand "quote" button of an earlier message with an embedded video you will see exactly how it looks)
