haha! Yeah the Metallica I DO like certainly excludes the black album. So
Mustaine may be an epic douchebag but he is way more talented physically and in terms of songwriting than Metallica. Yes, all of them.
|
qft. Megadeth's first 5 albums beat anything Metallica have done |
Yes, I will admit...Mustaine literally lives in Metallica's shadow. They make a sell out album, he makes Countdown to Extinction. They try to rebound from their sh*t (St Anger) he makes The World Needs a Hero.
Go back to their thrash roots, he does the same with endgame.
Not that it matters, the Deth is far superior! I do like Countdown waaaaay better than Black Album.

Pretty sure The World Needs A Hero was before St. Anger
But yeah true

Eh its not the same without Caio. Why go rage on Metallica and expose their obvious flaws if he's not here to rage?

Is Devil's Island really your idea of amazing songwriting? How can you think his cover of I Ain't Superstitious or his cover of Anarchy in the UK is superior to...say Master of Puppets' title track? Just seems to me that Metallica put more thought into what they were doing back then. I'm not saying that music needs to be dark, but most of the time Dave just comes off as a silly f**kin' moron. Hello me, it's the real me! what a dumbass. Now, I goddamn hate Metallica's music after 1989, and I don't care about Kill 'em all, and Metallica are far from being my favorite band (they're in the top 100, somewhere near 50th place) but it seems hallucinatory to think that Peace Sells is more complex than Master of Puppets. All Mustaine tried doing was play faster. Metallica's goal wasn't to play as fast as possible.
But at the same time, I have a lot of respect for Marty Friedman, who really transcended the pitiable Megadeth cage. I simply don't understand why exactly you guys think Mustaine was a "good" songwriter. It's not wrong, it just puzzles the sh*t outta me.

2 things: 1: Amazing? No. But more so than Metallica, which was kinda my original point. 2: I love you Dusty but just be warned you have hit Henry territory with me, which means I ignore most to all of your posts.
Just figured I'll save you the energy.

Can you rationally and scientifically explain why the songwriting in Wake Up Dead is superior to the songwriting in Orion? What makes the former superior to the latter? Or, what makes Hangar 18 superior to Master of Puppets, cna you explain and tell me what I'm missing?

It puzzles me how on this album Alan Parsons thought he would try and be The Bee-gees for a couple of song
And complexity isn't what I would quote about Mustaine's writing. The riffing and playing is far superior to what you find in Metallica. Lyrically I don't think either band is very strong, but I don't listen to thrash for the deep lyrics. And I take Anarrrrchy In The USA over anything on Garage Inc.

My opinion. And you know you can't rationally or scientifically explain anything to anyone's liking, especially if attempting to convince them of a different opinion. Why you playin this bullsh*t?

urm nice trolling. I'll feed it anyway. Choice of songs on both examples is completely unrelated. Orion a slightly electronic Thrash instrumental vs Wake Up Dead an intentionally heavy typical Thrash song. I suppose slight comparison could be drawn between those last 2. I don't know which i'd say is superior but i'd take Hangar 18 anyday since every metal douchebag in the world hasn't ruined it.

As a whole, Megadeth > Metallica
But if we're talking about just Metallica's first four albums, then those are better.
