More central, Hunterdon county, too many rich conservatives here. :P New Paltz, where I'm going to school, is the opposite (hippies and more hippies, I'll probably fit in somewhat)

Showed you Rush? That means you looked at the covers and ran away... knowing they were evil and shouldn't be heard.

Actually she just showed me Roll the Bones and I loved it and started buying more Rush.

I'm from South Jersey. Not exactly proud of that since I live near Camden (but in a much nicer town).
|
My parents are both from around NJ, personally I can't wait to get out. Not that it's too bad, just so many other places to visit limiting myself to NJ would induce robotism. I'm still fairly close to home in school, about an hour and a half away, but I probably will only come home on breaks and such.

I'm buying less proper prog... I'm buying more avant-prog, jazz fusion and Zeuhl.
Symphonic is still great though (that's what I consider as proper prog).

I didn't start until 15 or so, well I like some prog stuff before that but I wasn't aware of prog as a genre until then. Did you pick it up from your parents?
|
I started similarly to you, Mike; I started at age 14 or so. My dad showed me Rush first and then some others like Yes, Genesis, ELO, Supertramp, etc.
|
Started with Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield etc. at 4, continued with Genesis and KC at 10. Got into Gnidrolog, Henry Cow, Beefheart and Can at 12. The rest is history

So is music. So is everything.
Stupidness.

I meant Mike (MP07).
I have heard Hemispheres and A Farewell to Kings... not really my thing, to be fair. No denying their talent though.
|
Have you listened to those GG Vinyl replica's yet, James? I think you will like them. Awesome band!

I'm really liking National Health's debut. It would be better with bassoon, IMO as a bassoon player.
