An honorable mention for 22 plays, but 9th place overall is not what we really want to see here.  I do think top 5 is a better goal.  Keep at it and I think you will be fine.  Of all the FK lads around here, I think that you show the most promise.  Bien hecho amigo, mui bien, verdad.Big smile

Oh... and please do get the new ELP 5.1 discs.  Wink

I am fine my friend, just tring to keep up with my toddler, work and an occasional 5.1 listening session.
Every time I fire up the new home theatre I play ELP - Infinite Space from Tarkus.  Greg's chanting
along with the real pipe organ in 5.1 are more addictive than crack, I say....

I have been meaning to post some pix of my 5.1 setup, I will soon...

Ahh yes, Last FM.

For me The Chicken Farmer Song has recorded 69 plays which puts it at about my 445th most listened to song.  (yes, those are real numbers)

i noticed a few reviews of their stuff on the homepage.  they're not complimentary.  i tend to steer clear of such blatant use of Tolkein in prog.  Tongue

cool.  i see that you are working closely with darkshade in his quest for enlightenment.  good luck.

btw, i got two kids too.  it's hard to listen to prog when they're running around.  just adds to the din of the room.  would love to see pics of the system.

It does seem to be a USA v Brits thing with Monsters and Men (unless I'm very much mistaken) Wink

For me, it's easily the best thing on Paradox Hotel and a top 5 TFK track.

In fact, I think I'll play it later Smile

What's new with me is that I've got a gig with my band The Phantoms (http://www.thephantoms.biz) at The Peel in Kingston Upon Thames this very evening.

What might interest some of you guys is that the venue also hosts a strip joint, hence the poster:

Did I say 5 times a day???Shocked  I think I prescribed 5X The Chicken Farmer Song to help cheer up a "bitter Bob", around here, once or twice, or to get Infandous back in fighting form.   Actaully playing Space Revolver from start to finish and blasting it when The Chicken Farmer song comes around is my standard advice for anybody with two ears, a stereo and electricity.

@WisdomBeginsInWonder:

Welcome to this thread, we get the pick of the litter from Prog Archives here in this mini-forum.  Enjoy!  Smile

Dennis, about the best you will get from me is to say that I never skip a track when I listen to Space Revolver.  The only track I find less than good is You Don't Know What You've Got, but it's under 3 minutes so I just let it play anyway.  Chicken Farmer is not my favorite track on the album, but it's a good one.

As to Monsters and Men, well, it just never clicked for me.  Someone mentioned Tomas' piano playing on it and I would agree it is a highlight of the song, but as a whole it just bores me and makes the album feel like it takes forever to get going.  Easily my least favorite on Paradox Hotel, without question.  I wouldn't call it bad though (unlike the previously mentioned Space Revolver track).

Geesh, you didn't have to "lawyer up" on me.  There is no shame to openly enjoying the pure glee that is The Chicken Farmer Song.  At this point I have updated my diagnosis of you from being "in denial" to being:

A Closet Chicken Farmer Song Lover!!!!!

Feel free to come out of the closet, anytime, my friend.

Hi NovSmile,

i am glad to hear you are in a band, and better yet you gig in places with such agreeable company.  Does your signifigant other approve of your playing environment?

I went to http://www.thephantoms.biz and checked out some of your gigs and song list.  A little bit of Genesis, nice.Smile

One thing though..., wtf dude???  You guys don't play The Chicken Farmer Song???  This is not me being silly here.

TCFS would be the one Flower King tune perfect to play for the more accessible music your band plays.

Setlist needs work.Angry

I think even Craig does an acoustic Flower King medley when he plays down of the farm...  You are in bloody civilized England, laddy!   The cradle of progressive music.  Why not have a go at it???

Wink

I've always been a big fan of the F4.....
That list of songs....where's the prog epics ?  and "er...Let me Entertain you????
Oh well suppose it goes down well in Twikenham.....I can remember being at school when
everybody was taking the piss out of my Genesis/Camel/ELP listening habits - but NO AMOUNT OF FOOKIN PEER PRESSURE was going to make me listen to "The jam"......
And when I left school (and in salford) which is very close to where I live - The Smiths were fookin GODS - and I hated the fookin overrated set o sh*te hawks......Emperors new clothes or what.....
