I listened to that yesterday and it just may be the best thing I've heard all year!

I think it's gonna go in my top 3 for 2013. This album has also ignited me to dive a little deeper into the wonderful world of RPI. Oh and this DEN is gonna help. Great team of experts.

Your very welcome, Jim. Also, I couldn't agree more about the rarity issue. To tell ya the truth, being a Prog metal nut it is the same case. Oh the beauty of Prog. Such a rare and precious discovery to so few. Too bad their isn't much money in that rareness.

Hi Lovers of Italian Prog!
My name is Marco, I come from Italy and I joined yesterday P.A.
I live in Toscana, but my country of origin is Calabria in the southern of Italy. By this place, in a little town near the sea was born a marvelous group that has produced only one Porg Gems: Apoteosi - Apoteosi 1975
What do you think about this band?

Hello Marco and welcome! BeerI just love the Apoteosi album, one of the albums I checked out many moons ago. I loved that it was a family affair, just some folks making an album who probably knew it was a one-off, but threw everything they had into the work. I can feel everything they tried to put through. Those kind of records are special to me, moreso than the well known bands. I will play it again soon and toast you!Did you know them Marco?

Thank you guys for mentioning this album, haven't taken it off the shelf in a while. But I had no idea of the fascinating details behind the group. I just went and read their Archives bio, Chris (Seventhsojourn) did such a great job on it! Will give the CD a fresh spin shortly :)

Glad to hear many of the other RPI freaks enjoying that Unreal City album too!

Quite a familiar title in the RPI world me thinks, actually I haven't heard it in a long long time. I always thought it was a good album and very enjoyable, it always reminded me of Locanda Delle Fate in a few places. It certainly deserves a good place in every RPI collection, gonna listen to it today Big smile

Sagi, I just dug my Apoteosi CD out of it again, and I CANNOT BELIEVE I have not played it in years.....

Jim, I totally understand why you would like it so much, a perfect balance of the lush sophisticated sound with some wild and dirty sounding mixing and playing!!

Why the hell not....Nick, give this Youtube link of it a play, and see what you think! A crash course introduction to some prime vintage RPI!!

Curious expression "many moons ago" Cool...very nice...
Oh yes, pratically I try to know all RPI's bands cause this sub-genres is hereinafter referred to as the past, when many painters and sculptor create works. Today is the same thing, but the artists became musicians and this is so lovely!!!
The ideas to make "all in family" like Apoteosi, is a particular thing that belongs to us in southern Italy. Brothers Idà (and father with records) gave us a marvelous album, in contrast with strange reality of southern Italy.
And you? Which RPI bands do you like?

I don't know why I can reply so that it appears the screen of the post of originOuch...sorry.
Anyway one-shot band Apoteosi certainly can't have perfection of an excellent label, the period was 1975 and they was in Calabria (southern Italy). Anyone know difficult that we have in that place!. I'm 28 and I must go away to home ten years ago.
I love two things in particular of RPI: 1- the imperfection of recording (makes the disc more original) 2- most of them are Concept Album (maximum musical expression for me, in terms of intelligence)

Sometimes remind me BMS style, especially in the choice of last track. Only music, in the style of "traccia II" for example, personally a little more beautiful "Apoteosi". This do not want to be a comparison between the two band Smile.

^^ Thank you Utnapishtim! Being a young toddler in the RPI world, I was not aware of Apoteosi and am now listening to it on Youtube, excellent! Thumbs Up Will have to get it now...

From Nick and others mention of Unreal City, I know which one I am getting next. It was on the list but it has leap frogged up to the top along with the new one by Alphataurus.

Two fine choices, Jim/AEP! Andrea also just wrote a great rave review for the new Alphataurus about two days ago!

...which then reminded me to give it another play, it's been a couple of months now!

. Warning!!! Unreal City's La Crudeltà Di Aprile is so good it should be listened to sitting down to prevent injury from excitement due to quality musicianship and virtuosity. Which may cause the lister to bust a move or 2

Micheal. I like this dreamy 35min Apoteosi album. Embrion and Apoteosi are my favourite tracks.
I think I got a lot out of it for a first listen. I really like the soft, sweeping Hammond passages in the tracks listed above. So beautiful and so full of feeling. I think I am really starting to develop a stronger love for this type of music, although at first I wasn't sold on the vocals but later on I came around. :)
Nice album. Thank you.

Have done this, kind of put a hip out too I think, but totally worth it!

Sadly, no one was around at the time to witness my revolutionary dance moves!

I feel the same Mike, I really enjoyed it as well, sometimes there are albums you put aside and move on (although you like them) with no particular reason, I'm happy I rediscovered it so thanks to Marco!

It's so nice to speak about Prog!!! This is my first time with so much RPI lovers.
Sagichim I'm agree with you. Prog is like the ability to navigate many different channels of the same sea, sometimes could be possible forget any canal! But rediscover "a lost familiar gem" is always an incredible experience.
Aussye-Bird-Brother and Progbethyname, hope to listen in the wright way (lonely with in ear music) UNREAL CITY. I see you have become superfans of them, surely is a good album Thumbs Up
What impressions have you listening it?

AEProgman in RPI every step will be fascinating and mysterious, and constructive if yuo'll want to deepen the themes treated in the albums.
ALPHATAURUS, Atto Secondo is a surprise for me, cause the sound still the same of 1973. Thumbs Up

Yes, Utnapishtim, if you like the modern releases, Unreal City is very good, one of the best! Some people prefer the vintage classics, of course those works are extra special, but please don't dismiss the new ones too!

You should also look into the album by Ingranaggi Della Valle, another very good modern release!

Unreal City are like Fire Wagon RPI. Their young, and they play with a ton of power and vigor. It was really impressive to hear something like that from a group of young musicians who have just released one album.
The Hammond, Moog and Mellotron are played with virtuosity both in the modern and classical sense. I also love Zuffanti's voice. His sings with such emotion and a bit of desperation at times. I love it.
Also, Micheal (Aussie-Byrd-Brother) wrote a great review on it if you wanna check it out. He explains his feelings on it very well. :) welcome to PA as well by the way. Oh and again, good work on the Apoteosi appreciation.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention and discovery. :)

thank you. I liked this. The guitar work is incredible and the video is pretty intense actually, although I like when he displays the 'happy emotion' during the guitar solo. What a crescendo!
Looks like 2014 in jan will have a nice start. Guess ill check out his website for album pre-Order prices.
