^ He was--  he invented the Electronium, considered one of the, if not the first, "self-composing synthesizer".   He was also a gifted composer, wrote stuff he called non-improvised Jazz; his catalog was bought by Warner and used in many cartoons, giving him the inaccurate title of 'cartoon composer'.   Amazing fellow, and a true innovator.
