Listening to Presto for the first time in ages.  Man do I love this album.  So many great memories.  My first "new" Rush album as a fan of the band, and the first tour that I saw them playing on. Heart

I need to revisit Presto. Not one of my favourites, but no Rush album is actually bad.

I've yet to hear a bad Rush album, but I am a card carrying fan boy, so sue me.

Sue me too. I even love the debut...every darn song. Could be nostalgia though.

Me too.  The debut is a very good hard rock album.  Obviously it is a pretty small sample size, but Rutsey seems to have been a pretty good hard rock drummer in his own right.

I saw them on the Time Machine tour about a month ago; needless to say, the show rocked.

That is cool.  The Time Machine tour is the first tour that I have missed in a long, long time.  They didn't play in Michigan this time around.  The closest show was in Sarnia, Canada, and I didn't have the ability to go into Canada at that time.  Ironically, they played in Columbus, OH, the weekend that I was in Toronto, where I was able to go after I got the special driver's license that lets me cross the border.

I like every single album of Rush in its own degree, I am not very keen on Vapor Trails, though. It doesn´t get me turned on like most of there other stuff do. What are your feelings about this one, I should probably revisit the album and listen carefully, but what are the strong points on the album in your opinion, etc.? So as I have something to focus on Tongue

I think its a pretty good album actually but it suffers from bad mastering. It suffers from the modern trend of being saturated so the sound "clips". Hence its distorted and listening to it soon tires the listener. I would recommend listening to only a few tracks at the time and maybe start at the end of the album

If you start at later tracks you will hear them "fresh" if you know what I mean.

Or use shuffle and stop after a few tracks.

^ Thanks, I'll try that.
By the way, do we have an idea on when the new album is due? I can't wait!

I remember when I bought the CD....I thought it sounded horrible. But I have a EQ component and adjusted the "stuffyness" out.
If you get Retrospective Vol3, they remastered "One Little Victory" and "Earthshine" and are much better. Alex has even stated in interviews he felt the mastering of Vapor Trails was bad....he is right.

It is one of my favorite Rush albums, I think "Secret Touch" is an amazing song.........its a roller coaster beast of a song.

<sigh>
I still can"t get into VT as a total listening experience. I can listen to about half of it before my head says "ENOUGH!!!!" I really don't like the production and sadly, the song writing. Snakes and Arrows however was incredible.

That's a shame; they played the entirety of the Moving Pictures.

For me VT is the best songwriting since Signals.  Despite the poor mastering I come back to it again and again.
