Most music consumers can't afford vinyl and the required equipment/storage/maintenance that it entails, that's why digital audio and streaming came to be.

What annoys me is that we’ll have a beautiful sounding .wav file and then every site wants .mp3, which crushes the bits and reduces sound quality. I remember the beautiful sound quality of a 1960s Teac reel-to-reel that my father had. Digital will always be an approximation, but it can get darn tooting close. The problem is that I can sometimes detect bit crushing after typical conversion to mp3. It’s like when video streaming suddenly goes bad and everything get pixelated.
