Jared you're in Wells?  BLIMEY!!!! Well is one of my special places!
I lived until my move to WIltshier just about 10miles down the coast at Brancaster. The Norfolk people are a little strange it has to be said, but there are some gems amongst them too!

PM me where you are and next time I'm visiting the family (soon I should think) I'll try to get over there, we can sit on the harbour wall and eat chips and talk prog! :-)

the best line-up i can remember in recent years, though some said  "top heavy" - shame the chop-and-change-channel TV coverage couldn't had expanded to cover the unknown corner-of-the-field bands instead of those silly presenters doing embarrassing interviews..Ermm

well, it's my day off today Rach, and I'm off to Titchwell, with my binoculars and 'scope, so I'll blow a kiss to Brancaster on my way past, on your behalf...Wink.  anyway, as you might have guessed, I'm now running the Youth Hostel at Wells-Next-The-Sea, opposite St Nicholas' Church:
 
 
anyhow, I'd like to make a social comment on the idiosynchratic nature of the locals, but there aren't any round here.  they've all been priced out of the market by Merc owning London types who've snapped up a third or fourth home with their loose change... Yay! Big smile Walk yourself onto Brancy Beach then along towards Titchwell................ about this time of year you can swim in the Titchwell Creek ( watch the tide though!!!!) with the baby seals..........Big smile

There are still some locals in Wells, but they don't come out between May & September! Wink

Yes, it was the stuff on BBC 2 after midnight that was better.  Especially some of the live in the BBC 2 tent stuff as well.

I am mostly talking about the main stage bands, like Kasabian and Franz Ferdinand.  Gah!

It was just a shame that the sound quality for The Boss was appalling, until they adjusted it all.

Not being a Springsteen fan, I watched him with an open mind... then an open mouth. Pure professionalism, great showman, straight rock show with no embellishments.

In my opinion, he (and Neil Young on Friday) showed Glastonbury exactly what a live rock show could be in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing & know how to grab & hold a crowd for (in Springsteen's case) 2 & 3/4 hours. Quality - sheer quality

Yep.

That's my thoughts entirely, Jim.

I'm also not a Springsteen fan although I like some of his songs.  I am a Neil Young fan though and unfortunately I was out when he was on but I did catch some highlights the day after.  What I saw was amazing.

These modern bands therefore have a lot to learn.

Oh and I did think Jarvis Cocker was rather good solo too, it has to be said.

James likes Springsteen, who'd have thought.. he was quite good when I saw him at Amnesty, outdoing Sting, Tracy Chapman, even Peter Gabriel

well....sorry to disagree chaps but i just can't see it - all show and that corny mechanical guitar strumming (was his tele plugged in?).   i know people who are mesmerised by Springsteen (like they got religion) but i feel like the little boy in the "kings new clothes" song....Ermm

Well, I disagree - not going to go out & buy all the albums, but as a pure showman (and yes, his chops are pretty mechanical, but if you see any film of him, he's always played like that) I though he was the act of the weekend, so yah boo shucks
