Yes.

Hint: She was in character very much like the male protagonist in a novella by an author from the country she was born in. The name of that protagonist has become proverbial in her country, and indeed she was often compared to that character in the newspaper epitaphs on her. Interestingly her death was very similar to the death of the author of that novella.

According to the police investigation no; she was shot  It may have been suicide in a way though.

She was a member of the Bundestag, the German parliament, for some time, which makes her a politician, in my opinion. Also a few other things, which would be hints though and thus are not named by me yet, make it clear she definitely was a politician. She started as an activist though.
