I have read quite a lot about egyptology during the last 42 years, so with this hint it was no wonder that the "Patagonian Samson" came to my mind.

I remember now that Belzoni went to West-Africa towards the end of his life and died there of dysentery.
The "ideas" referred to Multatuli's Ideeën.
I had not realized that some hints on Multatuli wouldapplyto Belzoni as well LOL.
