^of course they don't make you happy. They are a visual symbol of the commercialization of Christmas. The light of the star that led the wise men to Christ has become a strand of 12 million little bulbs that don't work if one is out. Whereas people used to buy their close friends and family gifts and celebrate for 25 days of advent, now Xmas starts January 2.

Okay, keeping with the Xmas theme, what's with the movie The Nativity Story? First Passion, now this. Why doesn't anyone ever focus on Jesus' teachings? That's what made him important. Plus, the actress who plays Mary got pregnant. How awesome would it have been if there was no father? Talk about a missed opportunity for good publicity. If it was an immaculate conception, you can bet I'd see the movie. Heck, I'd run to the tbeater. That could be the marketing gimmick: See it within nine months or else.

^^Hollywood could give a rat's patoot about The Nativity story or any other story. Their only goal is to get what ever possible on screen that is going to make them money. They saw the huge market for religious based cinema with The Passion and are trying to ride the Gravy Train. Hollywood sees a that there is a market and jumps. If this one has a modicum of success, you'll be seeing more and more of these types of movies.

^^ I think I heard a rumor about a movie coming out around easter about Jesus after the resurrection. Or some thing like that to get money off of religious people. It sickens me.

What sickens you? The fact that someone is making the movie or the fact that a large proportion of our race will pay to see it?

If the demand weren't there, the films wouldn't be released - you can't blame Hollywood for pandering to the wobbling masses (especially when to an extent, they pay my salary... ).
I remember the furore when 'The Last temptation Of Christ' was released - why don't we start our own protest movement to demonstrate outside cinemas when yet another piece of cinematic ordure is released - we could all march in a circle outside film premieres with our placards & chanting such imprecations as:
"What do we want?"
"FELLINI!"
"When do we want it?"
"Just as soon as we've dealt with our inner demons and come to terms with the utter turmoil that is our existential nature and resolved the eternal issue of the role of man and superman as posited by Nietche"
...it could work...

On that line of thinking, people who drive through rolling hills who turn on their brights on just as they start up a hill and wait just until they blind me coming up the other side to turn them of piss me off!!! It seems these people would rather focus on constantly turning on and off the brights (presumably) in the interest of the drivers coming opposite instead of having their concentration being fully on the road ahead.

Why do people put their fog lights on as soon as there is a cloud in the sky?

When she got home and asked why they were out, I told her, "they weren't making me merry while you were gone." If no one sees them, why have 'em on? awwww, come on - it's only once a year - nice to bring some light into the gloom, you grumpy old sod!!

Reminds me of my brothers 1983 Volvo Turbo. Mud splattered too, with a windshield cracked in three places that meet in the middle with a muffler that almost fell off.

And how about all these slasher flicks? OMG, how much is enough? Can't stand them myself and hopefully the people who do will somehow get tired of a new every week so this will abate.

Now they've got one for Christmas. Isn't it bad enough we get crappy Christmas movies at Christmas? Why do we have to have crappy Halloween movies at Christmas? Every slasher flick is the same. Take some teenage morons, put in a secluded place they shouldn't be in, and have them picked off one by one in between superflouus sex acts by a man with a knife whose father never hugged him. The only redeeming quality about these movies is that the dumb teenagers are removed from the gene pool before the children they made before their deaths hatched and unleashed future President Bushes into the world.

This is the RANTING ROOM. Not the touchy, feely, "aw come on" Room. Do Christmas lights make you happy? Do you look down on people with little or no decorations on their house? Do you suppose all the extra money going to the light company could do some actual good in the world instead of making neighborhoods look gaudy? And what I really love is when someone's house burns down and they put on the news, "Cause of fire appears to be faulty wiring on X-mas lights." Don't think that the unmitigated joy that those lights brought is worth the trade-off of seeing your life up in smoke. So that's my rant. Peace and joy to you Fred. But you are not going to change my mind on this one.

Why does Barnes and Noble charge $29.99 for a movie? not a special edition movie, not a new movie, not an imported movie, just a movie? b*****ds.
Statement to Barnes and Noble:
Hello, old friend. We've had some good times, yes? Remember when I bought America: The Book for a solid $8.50? Good times. But there's something we need to talk about. You charge more for a movie than Jennifer Lopez would charge for me to plow her. Now, I would be glad to buy a movie for $10. In fact, I'll make a deal with you. I'll only buy movies from you if you promise to charge me only $10 for each on. OK, maybe $15 sometimes, but mostly $10. If I wanted to pay a crapload of money for 'Spirited Away,' I'd pay Hyayo Miyazaki to cut a new version with Porcupine Tree scoring the film. Thanks for your consideration.

Pisses me off too, especially those f**king neon lights that every SUV seems to have, which are at the same height as my car's front window
