Today I'm listening to a mix of my favorite Kpop artists ... Mamamoo, Purple Kiss, Dreamcatcher, Girls Generation, Itzy, etc... probably not to the taste of those here but after a week of listening to a bunch of my favorite prog simple catchy music is pumping me up

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

^ yes, a good combo. The SB album is a nice corner case for the genre label, but I can see how it is both neo and retro.

That release has an epic quality to it, in the context of Alt Metal. Have you listened to it? I do not know how it compares to their previous releases.

Yes, i know the album, I've listened to most of their work. What do you mean by "epic quality"? When it comes to epic metal, it's usually bands like Manowar and other Euro-power metal with fantasy, history as themes. I find them introspective, emotional, expressive (especially because of the great vocals).

^ Yes, epic is not a really great fit for the album - I just felt that the tracks were unusually long, deep and drawn-out compared to other Alt Metal acts. RYM also has it as a descriptor for the release, but maybe something like "monumental" would describe the music better.
