It's hard, but not because of what we're learning. They don't prepare us well because they go at slow paces but then the tests are out of our reach. Hardly anyone gets A's (usually only a few per class). Kids are extremely snobby and think they don't need to do anything. They think that since their parents are rich they can just rely off of them for the rest of their lives. They have no respect for anything and expect people to clean up after them.  The building itself is awful and falling apart.

Most of those kids will be in for a rude awakening somewhere down the line.

My history teacher asked a girl what she plans to do after high school. She replied, "I'm not going to college. Hell no. I'm going to marry a rich guy and party the rest of my life."

The sad part is that she's serious.

I have to ask this since rich kids would have the money for it: Are drugs a serious problem in your high school?

Are you sure she didn't mean "I want to want to be like a severely retarded person... you know, like, the ones in the movies?".

Another person that should just kill themselves.

If it was an Opeth release, then it'd be different. Wink

I grew up in a fairly affluent community, and I don't think there was too much of an issue.  It was only booze and weed, a little acid and shrooms but there was next to no one doing that stuff.  Never knew of anyone really going off the deep end with substance abuse.

Makes me think of how there was one girl in our class (she left after sophomore year) where someone kept a list of all the stupid things she said, including "Who won the American Revolution?" "Who was Hitler?" and my favorite one mentioned to my biology teacher sophomore year, "Couldn't we just warm Alaska up by putting a giant electric blanket over it?"

There is a lot of drug use in my town. Alcohol too. As soon as kids found out my dad was a doctor, I had kids asking me, "Can you get me some oxy?"

Yes.

Is it as bad as a private high school around here where they've had police go on drug raids and search lockers?

A question for the kiddies in this thread.....what is the real extent of the "drug abuse"?
No offense, but you guys seem to exaggerate it.

Geezus, I've used drugs before... meh, I ain't homeless out on the street, I'm fairly articulate and relatively intelligent.

Sounds like a casual use, Harry.  I consider "abuse" when the stuff starts to dominate your life and kills all other aspects.

Sounds succinctly accurate to me.

And considering what kind of person Mr. Whitehead is, I'm sure you can imagine the response.LOL He somewhat angrily tried to prove to her how illogical it was but she basically denied what he was saying out loud. Granted this is also the person who told me I'm going to hell because I'm not a die-hard Baptist like her.
