Oooh, it seems my thoughts about the arrest of Domique Strauss-Kahn may have been correct...

Lovely.

A potential cover-up as I suspected.

I don't think he was stitched up. I'll wait till all the info is in though. Though if it was a stitch up you would probably be correct in your conspiracist suspicion

Some French dude tweeted about him being arrested before it was publicly announced.  Plus he said it happened "an hour ago" when he was supposedly still at the hotel.  He wasn't arrested at the hotel.

It's interesting.  Still with the media these days you never really know the facts till it's over.

Besides, it makes sense.

Nobody likes a Socialist (I do, I'm a Socialist) and he was favourite to win against Sarkozy as French President.  Although from what I've read it may have been an IMF stitch-up, rather than a right-wing one.

But yes, we'll wait and see.

I thought it may have been a stitch-up before I even read about there being one.  I just Googled it and others are thinking the same thing (which is obvious).

If he did do it, wow.

But 74 years?

A cover-up of him not actually having done anything and someone potentially paying that maid a lot of money...

I suppose the second 'victim' immediately coming forward does make it seem a little suspicious.

Not really.  That makes sense to me.  It happens all the time.

If you're a rapist and you get found out and get arrested, it then means a lot of women or men who were previously scared of being victims, have an opportunity to speak out.

I'm not saying he did it, obviously.  I'm just saying it makes sense for another potential victim to come forward.

Well perhaps. I don't really know the time frame. I didn't even hear about it till the 6 o clock news

Ok, I googled stitch-up, that is stupid slang, you British people, it's called framed. The early tweeting is a poor justification for it being a conspiracy, though: someone who worked at the hotel could easily have seen him being arrested and the police took a little bit to officially announce things because that is what they do. A conspirator would not accidentally break his cover on twitter.

Although that doesn't necessarily mean the accusation is true, either.

I think the time frame was about 10 years.  Maybe less.  She was interviewing him and he apparently attacked her, so I read.

He was arrested at the airport, not the hotel.

Oh no i meant the time frame between the arrest and her coming forward, thats what might have raised suspicion. I'm just going to wait for the facts I'm not a fan of assumptions in these types of stories. Especially if he's innocent
