Yes, even in Ecuador there are, which is extremely stupid since there's hardly aryans in Ecuador..
The way you come back John, it seems I finally got it, Shin Bet member... ![]() Edited by The T - March 03 2011 at 21:36 |

My sister and her family live in Ecuador.
By the way, I don't think racist fascism is solely the domain of aryans, not by a long shot. Racially motivated violence comes in all colors. |

I remember an election in the university, I was a candidate for the students council, representing the democratic (right oriented) coalition, there was of course the APRA candidate (Social democracy with no chance), the radical left candidate, and a mysterious one whonobody knew. If things were normal, the election was between the communist candidate and myself (as a fact I won by a couple votes), but this guy had all of us worried, because this surprise candidates are always dangerous, being that if they are left oriented, they take communist votes, if they are right oriented, most likely he would take some votes from me and ruin my chances. The guy was a tall very dark skinned guy (probably a black and Native Peruvian creole), first the left guy spoke, he got a lot of support, then came the APRA candidate who got a couple of applauses (the usual fanatics), then came me, with more or less the same support as the left candidate and at last came this guy. He started saying that elections must not be political in university, that he was independent and a-politic (usual nonsense of those who want to win the non political votes), but when the turn of questions came, one of my friends suspecting he was some kind of Socialist asked him for his position (hoping this would help me, because things were tight). So the guy being trapped started "You want my position?. Well, I'm right oriented (I almost killed my friend for asking), but he continued, more precisely, I am extreme right oriented,. but he continued, I'm a Nationalist...But more precisely National Socialist (of course I was relieved, a Nazi could never win)" Then he started to talk the same racist stupidity about the Jews, homosexuals and ended with a loud heil Hitler.. The whole auditorium was mute, nobody expected this, the curious thing is that he got twice the votes than the APRA candidate. So yes, you see Fascists and Nazis in every color. Iván PS: A few years ago I saw the guy in the street, he joined a group called "Patria Familia y Tradición" (Country, Family and Tradition) or something similar (Not sure), who marched in the streets with flags and banners in the Nazi style Edited by Ivan_Melgar_M - March 03 2011 at 22:32 |

Not really a problem here, there's a lot of racism, but not organized, I knew the president of "Partido Fascista Peruano" but he was more like a clown that nobody took seriously, plus he was incapable of killing a fly.. The only problem we have now is the Nationalist Party of Ollanta Humala, a left oriented racist (indigenist) who's brother already directed an insurrection where policemen were killed, he's supported by Chavez and Evo Morales His father is some sort of leader who speaks what the son can't, his mother said in the last elections that gay people should be killed, the family hate white people. Do you ever feel that some kind of turn in events could give them more power, economic crisis etc. |

I honestly believe they have less chances than before, the candidates with more chances are:
After them comes Humala, he was second the last time, but he has lost support in the cities and rural vote alone won't ever make a President (I hope). Iván

I often wonder, how does an extreme element take control of a country. I don't know if you have ever been to Germany, but it is a wonderful country and I liked the people a lot. Its hard to conceive how this nazi element ended up running things. I have a very good knowledge of the fringe elements in the US, and I try to picture how they could move up in power. What circumstance would have to happen that would cause people to turn to them for answers. |

A desperate middle class, a message of hate which unifies towards a common enemy, a nation ravaged by a war and horrible peace conditions, hyperinflation, a pro-army mentality, a slow deterioration of the reign of liberty, all these causes John. Don't forget communism was quite strong in Germany after Bismarck, and the cries for a powerful state to control everything were there in place. If the nazis hadn't taken power, it would've been the communists, which were rather similar, though while the latter tried to ally with the working class, the former allied with the industrialists. Of course, once Hitler took power, he told them to f**k off.
Remember, Hitler gained power democratically. Other totalitarians achieved it through revolution but even this revolution had to count with popular support. In the end, it's always the people who stop believing they can do it by themselves and start believing in false messiahs... Here in the US? Difficult. The country is too big and its values individualistic (which is GOOD. Individualism =/= selfishness). But if there's a shift towards the collective and the love of the state as more important than the individual, eventually bad groups could seize this power.

^ A lot of truth there. The scary uniting element in the US to me would be the racism.
Its true that my perspective may be a bit harsh because I live in a very racially charged and violent city. I'm quite the little race mixer, so I get to hear it from all sides. In a lot of ways, I wouldn't be that surprised if a lot of Americans started to unite out of some sort irrational racial fear. |
