I hope that they don't expand the playoffs like Selig is talking about doing. It is bad enough that baseball is now ending in November. If he adds another round it might go into Thanksgiving.

The division series should be 7 games. Five game series are too volatile.
|
Agreed but he was talking about as many as 8 teams from each league being in the playoffs.
|
I know; I was just pointing that out. As usual Bud Selig's idea is idiotic. That should go without saying.

Bud Selig was the $1,000 question on Jeopardy last night in a baseball category. None of the 3 contestants knew which team he owned before becoming full-time commissioner.

I guess their taxes didn't have to pay for a statue of him.

He certainly is. I missed the first 1 1/2 innings and missed the 9th, but saw the bulk of the game. Incredible!

Damn. I had looked on-line in the 3rd inning and saw that the Phillies led 4 to 0 and that the Reds had no hits, the thought of a no-hiiter crossed my mind, but I seriously didn't think that it would happen.

If you saw the movement on his pitches and his control you would have.

I saw Halladay pitch a 1-hitter against the Tigers his rookie season. I was in Toronto for the last weekend of the season. He had a no-hitter into the 9th inning and Bobby Higginson came up and hit a pinch-hit home run to break it up. I think that the score was still 10 to 1 or some such thing. At least, I think it might have been his rookie season. I hadn't heard of him at the time, and thought that he was a September call-up; I could be wrong there though.

I think that was his first game ever.

You're right. They used to mention that a lot during Jays broadcasts, and they mentioned it during the game along with the 2001 story of being demoted to single-A ball and reworking his delivery. And yes, I think it may have been his first game.

Yanks closed the gap somewhat. I know he was resting players and that momentum isn't as big a deal in baseball. I certainly hope not Go Yanks! (Haters gone hate)

I can't believe Liriano coughed up that lead. Why would you have O-Dog bunt there in the first? Bad decision.

Yeah, once they went up 4-0 I knew the game was over, I couldn't see the Reds scoring at all the way he was pitching. By the 5th or 6th I thought he was going to do it.

It's a shame he had that lone walk. Stupid slider that that break.
