Systematic Chaos has grown on me.

It's freaking epic.

Well 3/8 songs are Wink

I used to only like a few, but it's really grown on me. I like them all now. Big smile

Prophets of War is the best, followed by Ministry of Lost Souls.

So I take it you're a Muse fan Wink
Ministry is actually the best thing they've done in years in my opinion.

I do hear some Muse influence, but it would easily be my favorite Muse song, since it beats anything they've written, IMO. LOL

It definitely has a DT edge to it. I do like Muse though.

And yes, Ministry is one of the best things they've ever written. It's great! Petrucci is so emotional.

Ministry is not bad, but I barely listen to it nowadays.
Petrucci is good too, but I honestly always wish they had gotten some other guitar player from the start.

Petrucci fits perfectly; I think he's fine.

No, I didn't mean it that way.
His solos fit the musical context, but I mean, someone who you can tell it's him playing after a few phrases, and Petrucci quite frankly, doesn't sound that unique compared to say, Steve Vai or even Steve Hackett, both those 2 guys have a more easily recognizable and unique playing style.
I guess it's harder to see what I'm saying when you don't play guitar though.

Oh, okay, I see what you mean.

Yeah, as a musician I definitely understand that, and I agree; he's not the most unique or easily spottable guitarist out there. Not as outstanding as Vai, Hackett, Belew, Fripp, Frith, or many others, I'd say. Just fits the band and does his part, he never really makes my favorite guitarists list for that reason.

Yeah, Petrucci never even makes my top 20 favorite guitarists.
I mean, he did influence my playing somewhat, but he is missing something that Hackett, Fripp or Vai to name a few, have.

I agree with you completely there, though I'm not a guitarist.

Portnoy is great too, but I'm not sure where he would go on my favorite drummers list either. Not in the top 10 probably.

I don't think I'll translate cause it'll make you think the album is stupid. LOL

Yeah a bit but he actually says something like Feiss which isn't a french word at all. Face isn't pronunced like that.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.

I know it isn't but I was using a word I was familiar with.

It's not something like fécés?

He's good, but I can list about 10 or so guys I reckon leave him in the dust for style and ability.

Yeah, I can too.

When he shines though, he usually shines pretty well; Under a Glass Moon is just one example. Great stuff. Clap

Indeed it is. Haven't listened to any of their stuff in a while.

Maybe I'll spin White Light/White Heat after this album.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.
