I also wonder why you haven't bought it yet Tongue

It didn't really impress me at first, I guess because I was expecting more Reale Accademia style of music. But it's not entirely different once you listen to it closely. Though I wouldn't call it prog, it is still interesting and not just straight italian folk. The album is mixing quiet acoustic songs with more upbeat moments that's flirting with prog.
The first thing I did like at first is the fantastic sound this album has, everything just sound great! definitely better than Reale's debut.
Anyway if you approach it as it is I have no doubt you will like it.

To my ears, what a missed opportunity! What the crap is up with the mixing?!? If all the instruments had been mixed at a consistent level, this could have been really good! I still like it, but that mix lets it down so badly! The bass has a nice thick chunky sound to it, and the average production/recording sound actually gives this track a bit of grit, but the mixing fails the band :/

Yeah. Music is interesting. Makes me think of being chased up the stairs for some reason...guess its the organ. But anyway the recording does sound like a cheap, hollowed out A-track recording. Lol. You are right. :)

Hey Micheal. Thank you. I enjoyed the first track quite a bit. Loving those RPI instrumentals these days. Anyway, hope I can find this one on Amazon or something. :)

Check here under "Cerchio."
Happy hunting!

Confession: I usually don't like the SHM mixes as well--they are usually mixed sound optimal through ear buds, with tweaked treble and bass and usually some compression. I usually prefer the original mixes, or more often than not, the Japanese jewel case versions from the 90s (King, Nexus, Edison, etc). But it is a case by case basis. Listener preference!

Regarding this album, I can't remember if I bought the SHM or not. I know I have the Vinyl Magic jewel case that Jim and Michael have. I'll check when I get home and see if it's there. Frankly, I'd be surprised if it were, because this album isn't one of my RPI favorites.

Wow, Pierre, I can barely find any info on that one on the net! I assume it's a super rarity?

The Bell hath toiled for thee and I could not avoid it any longer.  I have succumb to its calling, and God help me...I love it so.

I plunged into Jacula today and got Tardo Pede In Magiam Versus.  Have not heard this type of organ since my best of classical organ music about a decade and a half ago.  I feel like a Mad Scientist!!!

Good luck with it, Jim/AEP, it's pretty full-on when you hear it for the first time! I prefer the first album over it, but it's still wonderful!

Try out Antonius Rex's `Ralefun' if you want a good crossover of acoustic/romantic/melodic RPI with the eerie side of Jacula!

Full on it is!  I debated the first one over this one, but read the reviews and the continuous mention of Cathedral/Classical type organ music on Tardo and I knew which one I would try first.  Jim's review of it was awesome.

Thanks for the suggestion of Ralefun, sounds interesting.

That `Ralefun' album is a real one-off in the Jacula/Rex catalogue! The first Jacula album is even more instrumental, and I find it deeply hypnotic. If you like `Tardo' you'll no doubt like that one!

Heh, funny you mention Jim's review, because that's the reason I'm so intimidated to review that one! I've been making my way through reviewing all of the Rex/Jacula albums every few weeks, but I plan on leaving that one until last!

Pierre, Jim mentioned that you originally suggested the RPI team look into this album/band, they're on the Archives now, and I put up a review for the first album:

Really wish it could have reflected 3 and a half stars!

Thank you, my friend!

Beautiful and fair words, Michael. I fought so much to impose this album for two years and maybe more. Never give up !
Thanks Jim !
