I guess this form of speaking doesn't exist in the English language. I'm not literally meaning "we" including I or anything related to me. I will attribute this to my poor adaptation of expression of my native tongue to yours.

Or maybe Dean meant that they still have the good old pound in good old Albion.

How is a bird program on a phone a toy? It is actually a tool. Just as a carpenter who uses a scientific calculator to determine the rise and run of a roof, a birder can use the bird program as a tool.

It's not a full explanation, but don't you think it gives a fairly good overview of the issue?

Some people are just slow, I believe …

I found the article very interesting. Greek is obviously a fast language where you need many syllables to express what you mean. It’s also a very rich and concise language, though "malaka" ("w*nker") seems to be the word they use the most.

I'm not sold on the idea of syllable information density, though I admit how that is quantised in comparable measures across all languages is not covered in the article. Working backwards from an observation that all languages convey the same information per minute would lead to the conclusion that the languages with more syllables per minute will have lower information density per syllable - I guess I'm struggling to see how they worked this out from the opposite direction, ie they calculated the information density per syllable first, then determined that all languages contained the same information per minute... (does that even make sense?)
What?

Let’s compare a few words.

Greek:
Χριστουγεννιάτικο δέντρο (8 syllables)
Σαββατοκύριακο (6)
Μαχαιροπίρουνα (6)

Norwegian:
Juletre (3)
Helg (1)
Bestikk (2)

English:
Christmas tree (3)
Weekend (2)
Cutlery (3)

The Greek language has a lot of very long words, and the people here often speak very fast. That doesn’t mean that
Greek is an inferior language, of course. But the difference is obvious, and I could give you many other examples.

^ No argument from me there, but you are giving each syllable equal weight and significance, the study did not do that, it gave some syllables more meaning than others and then calculated an average for each language.
What?

Yogurt makes your testicles bigger
Our Democrats need cases of it

  Link

Yogurt could feed your sexual prowess, says the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Last summer, the MIT team wanted to test the link between eating yogurt and obesity.
The team fed mice with either a high-fat, low-nutrient diet or a diet more typical of rodents.

“The most entertaining aspects of all this were things we didn’t anticipate,” says biologist
Susan Erdman.   Male mice developed testicles that were 5% heavier than mice that were
only fed regular food, and 15% heavier than mice fed only junk food.

Wait, how do you weigh a mouse's testicles?
And don't say with a Mouse Testicle scale.

The extra yogurt boost also gave the creatures a “swagger,” researchers said. Male mice were faster
to inseminate females and had more babies than the other group. As a result, females had larger litters.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

The last effort to form a coalition in Greece failed, due to Alexis Tsipras who refused to participate in a government that would go against the people’s will. Quote from Athens News:

Where does that leave us? Right back where we started. No coalition government, no real meeting of minds and the hot potato that is the exploratory mandate back where it started, in the hands of President Papoulias. While there is still a theoretical chance of a coalition shaped solution in tomorrow's meeting of the political leaders under the President, anyone with an operating brain will realise that elections are the only way forward right now. Or backward,
depending on how you look at things.

You can follow their live blog here:

http://www.athensnews.gr/portal/8/55470

I can actually understand Tsipras: The Greek voters said a resounding no to the parties that have been in charge for many, many years – and to their way of handling the crisis.

This is for Slarti and all those who still vote for "the lesser of two evils" every few years:

Death and destruction are bipartisan issues and the last two president's differences are certainly only skin deep.

Time always wins.
