Haven't heard yet.

Padraic's current 2009 album of the year.

That's a good enough rec. for me. I really need to hear that; maybe I'll hear it soon because my birthday's approaching.

I'm listening to my current 2009 album of the year.

I predict that HoL will be #2 on the PA 2009 list.

I don't think so (though it's currently my #1)...

Phideaux's new one is holding strong at 4.78 with like over 40 ratings (though only three of those are reviews, so there's that), and maudlin of the Well is holding strong for real for real (lots of reviews).

New Porcupine Tree this year.

As a huge PT fan, I'm excited for that---but I really don't want it to dominate the PA charts again.

Also, as much as I really like them, I doubt it'll crack my personal top 5 (though Animal Collective isn't on PA, so I can't put them in my PA list).

This year has easily been the best year for music in a LONG time, in my opinion. And 2007 was really good too.

And then there's that...

Ward is among my favorite drummers.

Not mine. Tongue

I don't think there's any way for me to make a top list anymore. Especially with all the jazz and other drummers that I'd be neglecting if I only did prog. It's impossible. Wacko

Did you know that Burt Ward recorded a record with Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, "Orange Colored Sky & Boy Wonder I Love You"?

Hmmm.

Hazards of Love will win.  Trust me.  I know these things.

maudlin of the Well will not even be in the top 5.

I don't know about Phideaux.  They get mentioned here but not as much as The Decemberists.

If I can actually get to hear Cheer-Accident's lastest before the end of the year, it will likely take my number 1 spot.

However, there's the new Peter Hammill too and I NEED to hear it.  That could also be a big contender for me (not generally though).

I'll leave P.A. if Black Cloulds and Silver Linings comes first.  I'm serious too.

Oh and Octahedron will be in the top 3.

I think BC&SL is getting too many mixed reviews to come first.

James, I think you're underestimating the PT/Wilson love around these parts, but you could be right.  HoL is a strong contender regardless, I don't think I've heard a bad word about it.

I know it is.

But since when has that stopped average albums winning the album of the year? Confused

Well that PT album isn't out yet.  I'm only judging this on current releases and what people say.

I'm hoping the new PT album will be a Scarsick. LOL

Meh, Camel. LOL
Yeh, Camel. Heart

Not much of a Camel fan, really...
So I understood from your first comment LOL

If I put an album on while going to sleep it would probably be The Snow Goose.

Before I go out:

Pat, you need Lacrymosa and Zypressen.

Yes you do.

Sort it out. Wink

I maybe able to do you a deal actually.  I'll PM you later.

* it's called a swap -- new Cheer-Accident for one of the above three albums

Wilson could turn his grocery list into an album and play the guitar with his feet, and people around here would treat it like it was the word of God, if Insurgentes is any indication.

The Hazards of Love could come first, but look at the reviews for the whole band- The Decemberists are not nearly as popular as the forum makes them out to be.

And my album is sitting pretty at number 37.  Approve

I like The Snow Goose.

It's not amazing.  It isn't awful.

It's just something to listen to when you have a lot of work to do.  Good background music.

And Alex and David are forgetting something here:

Camel are a huge influence of Akerfeldt

Any Opeth fan who dislikes Camel are not true Opeth fans. Wink
