It's been sunny until now but its started to rain a bit so I thought I'd grab a coffee and catch up on happenings. No rich tea but a few malted milks left. Apart from Natural Science's blatant ageism - just wait my chum it'll happen to you one day - things seem well.
Today is planting onions day so I've been happily digging - again! Digging is a great way to spend an afternoon, particularly as the soil is in good condition and Royal Hunt/Porcupine Tree on the ol' Walkman. Dig up a lump of soil, kick it and it breaks up into an even tilth, ah perfect. Just one thing though. Where do stones come from??
For the past 10 years or so I have been tending my veg plot picking out stones religiously every time I see one and they still keep coming!! Do I have a great big queen stone below spade depth producing smaller stones who's natural instinct is to work their way to the surface?
Granted it is not a particularly stony soil - 12 inches of topsoil over clay - but I'd have thought that I would have removed them all by now. Still, good exercise I suppose.
Rhubarb is coming on nicely with a clump under an upturned dustbin for harvesting next month.
Sun's out - back to the onions.

BTW all - re next Friday - has anyone spoken to Sigod or Blacksword at all; Blackie hardly ever comes in here these days, so I'd hate for him to miss out & Si's always good company too
Rach - if you're free next Friday (and the bearded one?) & fancy coming along, I'm sure Vicky and I can put you up. |
I'm pretty sure they both know about it, I reminded Simon recently. I'll email them both again now. Blackie?

And really looking forward to it, obviously there is penance to be paid, I've got to keep my nose to the old grind stone this weekend, but it's going to be uber fun to see you all again! Dean I look forward to seeing you in May, it's only 5 weeks away! (yay!)
