Some days I think about changing the background of my forum avatar to some kind of scenery, Stonehenge comes to mind a lot, maybe an iconic picture of the city of Pittsburgh, maybe a herd of emu . . .

Agreed.  However after about 10 gazillion orders from Amazon over the last five years or so without the slightest hint of a problem why does it have to be this cd that goes missing?

I suppose it could be there when I get home.  Delivered by Elvis with his buddy Lord Lucan riding Shergar.

Bwahahaha . . . ok, I'm not certain who Lord Lucan and Shergar are but that's funny.
Lord Lucan, member of the British Aristocracy who went missing at the same time his maid was found brutally murdered.
Shergar was an extremely successful (ergo - VALUABLE) race-horse, kidknapped for ransom, but something went wrong and poor old shergar was probably made into dog-food.......

As I'm writing this - I'm sat in my easy-chair - stroking my copy of "BOE" (My Precious!) wearing nothing but an evil-smile.....
BRU-HAR-HAR-HAR (evil laugh in text form......)

Conspiracy theorists may be interested to find that Roj's missing copy, was in fact the 1963rd copy - and was to be delivered by a postman called John, Frank Kennedy  -who actally delivered the CD to No 22, November Street @ 12:30 pm......To a Mrs Gaynor Grassy-Knoll........
Hmmmmm spooky....

I know everyone is excited about BoE, I am too, but since I got the new album, Ive been listening to so much TFK again, and I can't stop going nuts over all their previous albums. I'm on disc 2 of Flower Power, and it's a lot more enjoyable than I remember. Deaf Dumb and Blind is such a great song, one of their best; and I really like Psychedelic Postcard too.

I'll be hittin' that up soon. Might be better than the studio version. I wanted to get through all the albums that feature the MTFK epics before diving into that one.Thumbs Up

I'm enjoying BoE a lot, and I didn't even have to buy it! One of my friends who haves similar tastes found the album at Bananaz Record Shop. I listened to it while playing some videogames so I can't name exact songs. All I know is I didn't skip or get annoyed by anything. I'll listen to it tonight for a second time.

I think all the above scenes that you mentioned would be a considerable upgrade to what you currently have.

Meh,

I pre-ordered the cd, it arrived on monday, and I discovered the case was smashed, so I sent it back without opening it. Now I need to wait for them to get a new stock and send it to me before I can listen to this.

Also, 2 days after I re-ordered it, my local record store announced a summer sale selling the album for 14,99€, 7 euros cheaper. This and the wait and the damaged merchandise really makes me frustrated and disappointed.

Had a good chuckle at that.  Surprisingly, BoE has arrived Tongue.  The only problem is I won't have a chance to listen to it til weekend Ouch.  Ah well, I can wait.

Incidentally Rob I've been trying to get through a 2 billion page book about the Kennedy assassination.  It's heavy going but remarkable to see just how much was covered up/ignored in the official investigation (The Warren Commission).  I think Elvis and Lord Lucan must have been on the grassy knoll, well someone definitely was and they had a rifle!!

Well, so much I could report about Nearfest, but I'm still processing it all.  The bands were great, though Van der Graaf Generator didn't do a lot for me (much to my surprise, as I've always loved that band and loved Hammill's solo performance at Nearfest a few years back) and neither did Helmet Of Gnats.  Every band was extremely talented and skilled, so there wasn't anything to be unhappy about.  I totally missed 12th Night because I needed to go back to the hotel room and sleep, but from what I heard I didn't miss much.

Anglagard was magnificent, my favorite of the fest, followed closely by Renaissance.  Annie Haslam still has it, and just blew me away with some of the notes she was  able to hit.  She's not quite what she was, but like Jon Anderson, she's still got it.  Hearing John Wetton sing Starless live was priceless, and the whole UK band just nailed it perfectly.

Got a bunch of CD's, but listened to Flower Kings first.  I'll have to give it more listens (two so far), but on the first time through I was smiling.  I don't really hear the "heaviness" everyone mentions, and I don't find it heavier than many of their previous albums, maybe not more than any of them), but it sounds really, really good so far.

Anyway - I hope that everybody has their copy of BOE....Is there a web site that shows how many CD's have been sold - I'd be interested to see how many copies of BOE have been sold. I would love to see how many were sold in GB, USA etc....Listening to "Progressive Rock" in the UK is a bit like watching pornography, I.e lots of people actually like it, but would never own up to it.....Also the main-stream media have mercilessly ridiculed the genre...The likes of Jeremy Clarkson is in fact pilloried for admitting he likes "Fountain of Salmacis" (for example)..and Prog. has long been the butt of many jokes about "Wizards Hats, cloaks " and tediously long, boring music....The Cliche of "New wave" destroying the Dinosaurs of prog in the late seventies has beome so hackneyed........
Mind you I have avoided "Cool" music like "The jam", "The smiths" ect like the plague....emperors new clothes anyone?
Big smile

Aye I remember you getting that book, I tend to avoid "Conspiracy theories" - People who promote them are also the type of person who believe that a fookin sky-intelligence (who looks remarkably human and male with a big beard)  who created the universe and everything in it actually listens to their prayers and gives a sh*te that they just ate a bacon butty or summat.....Big smile
oh - and  pre-order the next FK offering straight from their site....It cost me 16 quid but it was worth it...

Thanks for the report.  I figured anglogard and uk would fun.  I'd love to see uk live.  So, what other CDs did you get?

Btw, I'm still waiting for my BoE.  Any day now.

I finally ordered mine this week.  I got an email that it was shipped yesterday, so we will see if it is shipped by jet, by camel, or by snail.

Comus "Out of the Coma", latest Steve Hackett CD, new Anglagard album, new Izz album, Lost In The New Real (Anthony Arjen Luccasson ... or however you spell his name), Abel Ganz "Shooting Albatross", Klaus Schulze "La Vie Electronique Vol. 3".  I think that was it.  Also got the new Echolyn album before leaving, can't remember if I mentioned that here or not.

Only listened to the Hackett, Anglagard and Flower Kings so far, but all are excellent.
