Checked the lawns last night & they're still pretty short (mind you, I did mow them to within an inch of their lives in November) so no need to begin that particular cycle yet.

"Everyone" in barmy balmy England, perhaps. Ouch

Shocked MY lawn still has (no exaggeration) some 4-5 feet of snow on it. (Should melt by, oh... mid July or so...) We had +15C on Monday, and lost about a foot of snow, but the temperature has dipped again now to just below zero, and we had a couple of more inches of damned snow last night.Angry

So no biking yet (roads can be bare, but with freezing nights, daily melt from the shoulders turns to ice -- not so good on corners, on two wheels!), though hopefully by month's end, or early April.Ermm As for trail riding, the woods will have snow in them well into May, so that is out for some time. (Streams become raging rivers, & mud everywhere.) Every year here it's the same -- a taste of spring, we all think winter's over, then we get walloped by a late-March blizzard, and get back all of the white stuff we'd lost.

On the plus side, though, lake levels should be high, and the forest fires likely won't start too early.

Plus, we have all the water you Euros and Yanks will be buying in the future -- was that one liter, or two?Tongue

Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'

Sorry Peter - didn't mean to rub it in (especially in the kind of cold weather you're having ), but here in good old Blighty, we're having something of an early spring at present - - flowers coming out, bumble bees around, even saw a butterfly the other day.

Mind you - next week it could all go belly up & temperatures could plummet again to... ooh, nearly freezing (which will show on the shed's It's-a-bit-nippy-ometer)

If I had 4/5 feet of snow in my garden, I'd hardly be able to see my shed

Smile Ah well, it's a sunny day, anyway. I have some marking to do now, but maybe later I'll go outside, put a few ales in the snow, put on some good tunes in the garage, and have a fire in my chimnea.... (So don't cry for me, Argentina angina vag aging Cortina.) Wink

Stern SmileIn any case, cold nights are good for a while -- we don't want all of the snow to melt at once. It represents a LOT of water, and flooding could easily become a possibility (not right here, but in nearby areas, especially near rivers, of course).

Hi all, been busy recently and making the best of the weather.  Are we all well?

An honour indeed.

Justin Hayward is from Swindon.

He doesn't have the Freedom of Swindon.

However, shouldn't he have The Keys to the Kingdom?

I'll get me coat...

Good morning, young man - all pretty much tickety boo, ta very much. I think everyone's been making the most of spring, as The Shed's been remarkably quiet of late.

I take it the Cheltenham week was busy busy busy for the railway...?

That 'honour'(?) should go to Andy Partridge...He's probably been offered it but has kindly declined and advised them to Fluck off and award it posthumously to Diana Dors.

Gentlemen - surely the Freedom Of Swindon should be awarded to Mr Barrett for services to Prog

I don't suppose Syd would have much use for the freedom of anywhere right now.

There's a whole list of Swindonians... some prog-related!

Justin Hayward (used to live in Dean Street apparently)
Andy Partridge
Colin Moulding
Dave Gregory
Rick Davies
Diana Dors
Mark Lamarr
Melinda Messenger
Desmond Morris (lived where Rach and family lives)
Gilbert O'Sullivan
Billie Piper

Oh and Johnny Ball lives round here too, as does a former Grange Hill actor.
