1978 album, following the excellent Miradas (1976). Great mix of traditionnal and jazz.

I like them so much. The sound is an obvious evolution of IL VOLO and there is more of a hint to BATTISTI (as much obvious).

Hey Michael, where did you manage to get hold of that? Normally goes for big bucks so I've been waiting for a reissue for god knows how long.

yes, those CdL are very difficult to find on cd... Spirito Bono and Miradas are terrific records, btw. BTF is lucky. RPI is like a gold mine. |

Paul, Pierre was nice enough to point out a special `Russian Limited Edition' for a cheap price a few months back - and as we both joked about, it was a pirated/bootleg copy! Had some of the worst faded colour printing, with the cover even cut uneven with scissors I suspect! But so far the music sounds wonderful! Pierre, it reminded me a little of this unappreciated album (although it's not an Italian one), I wonder if you've heard it: It's a wonderful album, and it's shares the same melodic guitar playing and glistening synths as that `Sensitiva Immagine' one. I treasure my LP of this Arkus one, even though my ex bought it for my birthday! I won't let bad memories ruin a perfect album for me! |

Very cool, Jim, I've been curious to check out that band after your review of the first one, plus I always thought the artwork was straight off a 70's prog album! Which of the two would be better to start with?
Pierre, I hope you get to hear that Arkus album, I think it's lovely! I'm sure there'd be Youtube clips of it? |

Very different albums. The first is somewhat Area inspired, the new one is much more modern sounding with female vox and slight hints of world music, funk, other genres.....But I'm only just on my first spin of the new one so I can't really judge it.
But you can't compare them, only one consistent member I believe, they are basically different bands. I guess I'd say try the new one first....it's a current band and I think they'd love some feedback! |
