I started a list of band names in my notebook in anticipation of needing band names in the future.

I like it.

My choice would be "Deviated Septum".

Did I hear somewhere that Sherman Hemsley is/ was a Gentle Giant fan?   Can't remember where I heard this unlikely anecdote - I think it was on a usenet prog bulletin board.

I too can't believe I read and enjoyed this entire thread.  I think there's still a lot of room for catchy one or two word titles:

Logic
Theorum
The Humans
Potpourri
The Fossils
Menhir
Petroglyph
The Ley Lines
Windows
Panarama
String Theory (a no keyboards band?)
Strange Attractors
Leitmotif
Daybreak
Sturm und Drang
Euphoria

Ok - I'll stop.  One could list the entire Roget's Thesaurus (Thesaurus is another good name) and many of these have probably already been taken.

Here's one more up for grabs.  When I was a kid back in the stone age, I was in a garage band we called Pax.  We thought it was a fantastic name, but we were worse than 'orrible.  I started writing a space rock opera that began, "In shrouds of velvet night, a sun hung undisturbed for centuries on end - when dreams of mental might brought Man, on whose quest for knowledge even gods depend."   Yeah, that's pretty stinky and we couldn't quite pull off the concept with just a Vox Jaguar organ, a bass guitar, and a snare drum from a high school marching band.LOL   I still think Pax is a great name though.

I know he's a Yes fan. See: http://music.yahoo.com/read/news/12039582

I also heard he's a Gentle Giant fan and that he's a fairly good jazz keyboardist, but I can't seem to recall where I heard that.

If I had a cock rock band I'd call it Crotch. Or maybe Groin, I haven't decided yet.
