Following on from The Dream Mixes (1995) and TimesSquare (1997), The Past Hundred Moons is the third in the series of Dream Mixes albums for a new generation of fans. DM3 is Tangerine Dream's 73rd album overall, featuring more pulsating and hypnotic rhythms from remix master Jerome Froese. Smile

Thanks again to Modrigue for the YT album playlist. Thumbs Up

Excellent clip and wow wow wee what a list.

Bearing in mind that the universe is reckoned to be 13.7 billion years old today, I'm just wondering how any heavenly body could be 92 billion light years away from Earth, or am I being too rational? Wink

By the way, The Sun is just 8 light minutes away from Earth and the nearest star Alpha Centauri is four light years away, or approximately 24 trillion miles away, meaning it would take 40,000 years to get there in a spacecraft travelling at 18 miles per second (or one 10,000th the speed of light). Shocked

Sorry, that should have read "24 trillion miles away" and not "24 trillion millions away," although the distance is still mind-boggling.  Embarrassed Geek

5 stars 2002: Inferno (Live) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCKncy0CZ1Y

Tangerine Dream meets opera in this stunning musical extravaganza, in an album that sounds nothing like any previous TD album, featuring no less than six female opera singers and a heavenly choir. Prog Archives described Inferno as "something of quite astonishing beauty" and I totally agree! This is an album that really has me fired up with love and passion for such beautiful music. Inferno is the first in a trilogy of albums based on Dante's Divine Comedy and marks Tangerine Dream's 12th Live album and their 74th album overall. The sound quality of this album is simply amazing, having been recorded Live in a church in Bernau with studio overdubs added. Inferno is also notable for being the first album to feature percussionist Iris Camaa (below) who, together with Linda Spa, gave Tangerine Dream a new glamorous image for the 21st century in their many Live appearances together between 2006 and 2014. Clap

Yes indeed! This era is already sounding much better than the 1990's era and I'm rally looking forward to 2005 when Linda Spa rejoins the band. Thumbs Up

Definitely keeps the dream and tradition alive. Pretty good track. I quite like it. I don’t think Froese would roll over in his grave.

4 stars 2003: Mota Atma (soundtrack) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ1RJ8FWkY0

Mota Atma is Tangerine Dream's 26th soundtrack and their 75th album overall. Mota Atma (translated from Sanskrit as "Atomic Soul") is a documentary about how everything is structured atomically and the inner mechanics of what holds us and everything we see around us together. My heart and soul is really into this magnificent soundtrack, as Edgar & Jerome Froese have produced a classic album which sounds like it could well have been recorded back in Tangerine Dream's 1970's heyday. Thumbs Up

I've back-tracked slightly today by giving Goblins' Club another listen and you were right all along! It's a worthy 4-star album for sure, in one of those rare occasions when I've underrated an album for a change, when I'm more often accused of overrating albums. Tongue

Linda's co-write on the curiously titled "Elf June and the Midnight Patrol," and Edgar's "Sad Merlin's Sunday," won me over. It's odd but cool how they appear as the last two tracks. That's some wild sequencing. Big smile

Oasis is Tangerine Dream's 22nd soundtrack and their 55th album overall. Oasis represents an ocean of calm in a troubled world, unlike the Gallagher brothers, who represent a whole world of trouble. Tongue

Worthy of another star, IMO. Oasis was a very nice surprise when it arrived, demonstrating the second half of the decade was proving to be more interesting for the band than the first half.
You were right about the Oasis soundtrack too. I've given it another listen today and added another star to my rating, just as you suggested. Thumbs Up

A brief interlude.....

Austrian percussionist and blonde bombshell Iris Claudia Martina Antonia Kulterer (better-known as Iris Camaa) was with Tangerine Dream from 2001 thru' to 2014,  but she also has a respectable solo career of her own with her particular brand of Soul-Jazz-Pop sounding nothing at all like Tangerine Dream. Oh, and she sings too! Yes, Iris Camaa truly is a Chameleon. Be prepared to be pleasantly surprised (or not, as the case may be).   Smile

Edgar released Iris' 2005 CD Straight from the Shoulder on his Eastgate label.

(Edgar and Thorsten co-produced it, and I could be wrong, but they may even have played on it!)

I noticed Iris Camaa's Straight from the Shoulder album was listed on Discogs, but there's no sign of it on YouTube. Confused

3 stars 2003: DM4: Dream Mixes IV - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6nPa2xn97A

Dream Mixes IV is the fourth of five (or Firth of Fifth!? Wacko) in the series of Jerome Froese's remix albums and Tangerine Dream's 76th album overall.

4 stars 2003: Rockface (Live) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPLgJ194Hro (CD1)
                                                   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHrE8US3gv8 (CD2)

Rockface is Tangerine Dream's 13th Live album and their 77th album overall. This is a double live album, recorded at Berkeley, California back in 1988 when Tangerine Dream were a duo consisting of Edgar Froese and Paul Haslinger. Rockface is the first album in the Vault series, featuring classic Live performances over the years, so if you want to scale the heights with Tangerine Dream and hear them as they used to be, then you can't go far wrong with Rockface, but don't forget to bring your pitons and crampons. Tongue

Slight correction: TD was the trio of Froese, Haslinger and "the new guy," Ralf Wadephul for this tour.

I saw them a couple nights before this date. Rockface is an excellent document of the North America '88 Tour and has a fair amount of music you won't hear anywhere else. Recommended! Clap

5 stars 2004: Purgatorio - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvFOTOUy3zGezj9JoBnRF9cxPqkUhSkr1

Tangerine Dream have struck gold again with Purgatorio: their 27th studio album and 78th album overall. This double album is absolutely bursting at the seams with heavenly voices and the music is simply stunning! Pugatorio is an oratorio (hence the title Smile) and it's the second album in a trilogy (Inferno; Purgatorio & Paradiso) based on Dante's Divine Comedy. If any self-respecting Tangerine Dream fan doesn't like this outstanding musical masterpiece, then they should go straight to purgatory, do not pass "Go", and do not collect £200 (£200 million, adjusted for inflation). Tongue

That's three 5-star albums already this century and we're not even halfway through the first decade! Clap
