^^ a bag of sweets which, up until Dec 27th was selling for about £3.00, is now worth over £2k, just because the shop has gone into liquidation??
Just think how many 'Henry Cow' box sets you could have purchased with that..

I was just saying in the "other" room, that maybe I should have bought two boxsets and sat on the other one until the time comes to sell it. Ah well.

yeah, and then you could sue them for misrepresentation under the Trades Description Act, for use of the word 'Last'...

I used to have an empty tube of Austrian Smarties... (I think it's long gone now though) now if I just got a fresh box and transferred the contents over. Nobody would know!

Indeed, those that have visited HQ can attest that it is a massive operation, a vital cog in the British economy...

It is a vital cog! I'd hate to see it close.

It's impossible to have an empty tube of smarties. Now an empty smartie tube on the other hand.....

Ay up. Has the bulb blown - its a bit dark in here.
Nope - no one's in tonight. Good - means I don't have to share my last bag of pick n' mix. Now what shall I have. Ah yes, the spearmint chew.
Mmmmm. Best be hiding the wrappers though.

So they've delivered them already from London?
That was quick!
Hmmm... none of them really take my fancy.

I don't think sitting on it would add much to the value, to be honest - I can't see 'Henry Cow boxset, unopened but bearing imprint of my buttocks' attracting too many high bids, and I'd be deeply suspicious of anybody who expressed too much interest.

Final winning bid £14,500.00??? Shome mishtake here shurely... not even Fruit Salads or Dime bars are worth that much (well, not quite).
Oh and Neil... "Empty tube of Smarties", "Empty Smarties tube" - aren't we the sharp pedant this morning?

and rest assured; others may claim
to have the last bag but this one has been certified by the
administrators as officially the last one

^^when you have (had??) over 800 stores nationwide, how can the administrators in any one location guarantee that this particular bag is the last??
and, having done my 'Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points' as part of my Food Hygiene Cert, how can you be sure that a bag of sweets have remained contamination free, over the 2 month period since the stores closed??
I think that if you're parting with over £14k, you're entitled to a certain level of quality assurance...
..or your money back...

oh I doubt the depraved soul who buys such an item would ever touch it,
but rather seal it hermetically and store it in his cellar till the Pic n Mix
market goes up

I doubt they would have raised quite as much for a bag of Woolies broken biscuits... and I miss them more than the Pic'nMix.
