I want pomposity.....I reckon TFK should re-do "The Lamb" by Genesis - it would be a monster seller as well - If they were allowed to do it of course.....

Not that everyone need have the same opinion, but give AToS a couple more listens before giving up on it.  On my first couple of listens I was underwhelmed.  But now I can't imagine why.  It now find it one of the best albums of the century!  I constantly have it running through my head, even if I haven't listened to it in weeks.  Not just one song, but every single one!

Anyway....!
I will probably have another listen...I didn't think too much of "Garden of Dreams" on the first listen - and it's in my top 10 tracks of all time now..The first track was OK and the last - Mind you - the CD is too vocal's dominated - and the instrumental parts did not WOWSER me like the recent Nexus CD's I have purchased.

I remember you saying that Rob.

I'l made a speculative purchase with Stardust We Are and the rest is history.  I'll be you're glad you gave Flower Power another try.......

i though it all ended with page 200...that we spontaneously burst into stardust and flew to the garden of dreams only to be met by roine and hasse with their flowing hair and everyone receiving a jonas hat and one long tomas synth melody was playing in the air.

LOL  shameless run to get the mythical 'first post on page200' . . . I love it.

I think we have another 40 pages or so before the thread gets too big for the server to process quickly enough.

Yeah, who's have thunk it's still be going, what, three years later . . . well done all.

According to our recent discussion in the Shred room, threads should be able to last over 1000 pages before they get buggy.

Happy 200 pages. I think I came into this thread around 120 pages in? It's been a little slow lately, I didn't know if we were ever going to hit 200. And we were speculating that we might not hit 200 before June 18, but here we are. This thread is going to blow up in a few weeks. This will be the first new TFK album since the thread got started! Maybe the OP will come back.

Yea we had this discussion, the threads could even go as far as 1600 pages.

The shred room is the thread for off-topic chat. It's under the Just For Fun section.
Here's the most recent post. You can always jump in whenever you want. Scott and I are there often.

I had no doubts we would get this far Big smile  Starting to get really psyched for Nearfest (even though Eloy is now no longer playing thank to Frank being hit by a delivery truck a couple months ago), and of course for the new Flower Kings album.

I have to confess, I have not pre-ordered, as there has GOT to be a cheaper alternative.  I've actually not pre-ordered any of their albums since Unfold (and that one I got for $14!!!....special edition!).  Of course, there were no special editions for A&E and Pardox, so it wasn't really an issue, but I got TSONE special edition a couple weeks after it came out for a good bit less than the pre-order price, so I'm confident.

Hopefully, this doesn't affect my FK fan cred too much  Big smile

I'm with ya. I'm not pre-ordering, I'm confident my local shop with have both the regular edition and the special edition of the album.

Of course, I'm getting the special edition!

So am I, but I have no "local shop" to get it from.  I'm counting on Greg Walker (or Laser's Edge, or one of the other "prog dealers").

To be honest, not really.  It's not bad, of course, but very "light weight" is the best way to describe it.  Only three short songs, the 3rd being actually just a demo with only Roine on it (though some very nice lead guitar). All three are not really proggy at all.  Then there are a couple videos, both of which are on YouTube.  So, no, not really essential at all.

Good question.  Basically it is like a chat room to just discuss whatever.  Sort of like this thread when it goes off topic.  The difference is that this thread does have a central theme which is the Flower Kings, where there is no central theme in the Shred.  It is the Seinfeld thread of PA.  100s and 100s of pages about nothing in particular.  LOL  I guess it is like a virtual street corner for hooligans to hangout, cause trouble, whistle at the girls, and frighten the passerbys.

Damn, I wish I had been in New York the day this picture was taken, and maybe run into Roine. He'd probably be in disbelief that a TFK fan spotted him in the middle of NYC.

okay.  that song the river seemed intriguing.

sounds like the 'bonus' disc for BoE will be a little more substantial.  bands/artists are pretty good about knowing what's their best stuff to put on the actual album.  glad it's going to be a tight one disc with the bonus stuff that seems that it was intended for the album.  we'll see.

i wonder how much roine get's recognized.  never know when you'll see one of your heroes.  my wife ran into amy ray from indigo girls this morning at starbucks!

those audio interviews were nice.  i always think interviewers give roine a bit of a hard time.  he seems to have to defend himself a bit about all his projects etc.  maybe i'm just making things up.  jonas is just a goof ball.  it's so interesting that Transatlantic is such a huge band.  roine says that the audience just goes ape sh*t with the first note.  got to hand it to these guys for sticking with their muse and not focusing only on the money making TA.

I'm sure at least half of Transatlantic's fans come from the Dream Theater camp, but a good portion come from the TFK/SB/Marillion camp; maybe even PoS.

With the success Transatlantic had in 2009/2010 with The Whirlwind and the subsequent tour, I feel like many people may have gone on to check out the other bands, particularly The Flower Kings, and maybe the new tour will be a more successful one for Roine and co.
I know I'm a fan that went on to check out TFK because of Transatlantic, even though I knew about them for a long time beforehand. The Whirlwind just kind of gave me that extra push I needed to explore all those bands, especially TFK.
