I don't know too much from this poll. You would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for those Meddleing kids.

Although I love every single track on Meddle, I'm trying to avoid voting for the Floyds because they are...too known.
So from this list I don't have to think too much, nothing can beat Weidorje. Definitely one of my top three Zehul albums. Edit: I feel like Dark Side Of The Moon is up on the next one Edited by sagichim - January 10 2013 at 22:02 |

About Embryo John, I am positively certain that it never received a proper slot on any of the Floyd releases. Just goes to show how incredibly thick musicians can be. Well they didn't like Atom Heart Mother either, and that's just about my favourite studio album from them

I think i recall finding a studio version of Embryo from some compilation, but iirc it wasn't nearly as good as the two BBC version. Speaking of which, boy do I love that BBC bootleg. 15 minute Fat Old Sun is bliss.

I have to vote for Meddle here, but Ricochet and Timewind belong to the best Progressive Electronic albums.

It's not good seeing so many excellent albums in the list and not being able to vote for all of them.
Meddle is my favorite album ever

Those 1970-71 Pink Floyd BBC recordings are some of my favorite recordings ever done by the band. I considered that version of Atom Heart Mother to be the definitive version, it even sounded better than the album, at least until I got the 2011 remaster of AHM a couple of months ago, now the studio version is king once again.

I have the same double Floyd bootleg with the green cover, and as far as I know Embrio was never officially released. There is another shorter version (about 5 minutes) in some compilation, I know because a friend of mine has that one.

I bought the Works album when it came out as a present and know that it's an official release, but since anyone can add albums, one can at times find unofficial releases/ bootlegs in the database. They tend to get removed, but I expect that some, especially with rather lesser names, may slip through the cracks. I think I remember some unofficial Italian Pink Floyd releases, and maybe Led Zep, being added before, but they were caught. By the way, "Embryo" was first released on the Harvest Records various artists sampler Picnic - A Breath of Fresh Air in 1970.
I must admit that I voted without listening to that album for some years. I used to love it, but when I listened with half-an-ear since I was multi-tasking ( not a great way for me to listen to lot of music unless I pretty much know it by heart), again last night it didn't appeal as much as it once did. It even seemed rather "pedestrian prog" at times. Maybe I wasn't really in the mood (my bent over the last year has been more towards Krautrock, and generally "progressive" music outside of PA, albeit Prog related). Had I listened to all of these albums afresh, then I think Timewind would have got my vote (interesting that the two I most considered voting for would be voteless had I not voted for one of them). Stil,l wasn't a favourite Schulze of mine. Weidorje is great, but I overplayed it a bit. The Present and UZ I really liked, but haven't listened to them for a long time. Meddle has been one of my favourite Floyd's too, but I have difficulty paying it full-attention these years for some reason, and that SMM is very good, but not one I'm really in the mood for now. Ricochet is reaaly gooid -- rather surprised it doesn't have more votes. Edited by Logan - January 11 2013 at 11:49 |
