I vote for "Dune" although I like "The Elephant Man" too much!
| No, I wouldn't say you've lost nothing by not seeing Twin Peaks. As TV shows go, that show was nothing short of brilliant. Granted, it sort of flew off the handle in the later episodes mainly because Lynch was not involved with it as much. But it was the most original and innovative show to come around in years. Just dripping with atmosphere and style.
I got the Hong Kong import of the pilot episode on DVD and the box set of the rest of the first season episodes on disc as well. Everytime I let someone who hadn't seen it borrow those, they come back absolutely hooked! Never fails! |
In this globalised world maybe I find the Hong Kong import here and I'll take your recommendation.

Not only is Mulholland Drive my favorite Lynch movie, it's one of my all time favorite movies, period.
In Mulholland Drive, Lynch strikes a perfect balance of all of the stylistic elements that make his movies so enjoyable to me.
Note: The Twin Peaks episode that revealed Laura Palmer's killer (directed by Lynch) remains to this day the single best hour of drama series television I've ever seen.

So much music. So little time.

Take note that the 2 hour pilot episode and the rest of the 7 first season episodes are sold seperately. Reason being is Warner owns the rights to the pilot only. So whatever you do, don't buy the first season box set 'til you get the pilot first. You'll be lost without seeing the pilot first. The story line is so complex that you just can't jump in the middle. Word is going around that the 2nd season is in the making for DVD and should be out this year.

Eraser Head, doesn't get more trippy than that, except for Un Chien Andalu, it beats Eraser Head at its own game.
