Actually, animals is a story, it requires just a little immagination, but just try to let the instruments tell the story, they will, as well as the excellent lyrics.

Why just 4? There are so many great conceptual albums that is not possible to choose only four.

In no order except 1 and 2 maybe 3:

  1. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (Genesis)
  2. 666 (Aphrodite's Child)
  3. Thick as a Brick (Jethro Tull)
  4. Quadrophenia (The Who)
  5. Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (Rick Wakeman)
  6. The War of the Worlds (Jeff Wayne)
  7. Illusions on a Double Dimple (Triumvirat)
  8. Revolutions (Magenta)
  9. Six Wives of Henry the VIII (Rick Wakeman)
  10. Spartacus (Triumvirat)
  11. Midsummer's Night Dream (Steve Hackett)
  12. Journey to the Centre of the Earth (Rick Wakeman)
  13. Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd)
  14. Darwin! (Banco del Mutuo Soccorso)
  15. Criminal Record (Rick Wakeman)
  16. Tommy (The Who)
  17. Peter and the Wolf (Brand X and guests)
  18. The Wall (Pink Floyd)
  19. Heaven & Hell (Vangelis)
  20. No Earthly Connection (Rick Wakeman)

Among others.
