No, because Coldplay are also copying a watered down version of a sound Radiohead used to occasionally do. They can carry a tune, I'd just rather they didn't carry the same tune for about four minutes at a time.

It would say that the flower kings is just a band of braindead idiots that have no ideas for them selves and is just trying to copy yes and genesis. As there is no single new idea in roine stolts head. Ive got 3 flower kings albums all are just plain copies of 70s yes albums.

So if you rate the coldplay as braindead becuase they copy abit from their inspirations then also porcupine tree, flower kings and all these wannabe new 70s prog band are equally braindead.

And by the way if the coldplay sound exactly like radiohead explain to me why i dont like radiohead at all then?

I like 'em. I've just bought the album in question. Once i listen to it, I'll give you my opinion.

Dull? Boring? Done before? Oh for Gods sake!! (would use stonger language but I don't want to break the rules here) Maybe you Prog-Rock fans ARE pretentious as they say you are...and if you aren't then I've just met the some of the most fitted to that description.

Let us define the phrase 'Done Before': if you use a musical techinique thats 'done before' are you boring? If you use a chordal progression that's 'done before' are you copying? If you do covers from time to time are you plagarising? Because if that's the case then everything since Led Zep or Genesis may as well be a pile of   (once again- would use a stronger word) I can't believe you think that way!!!

So Spectral and Lyton: you just met a  couple of hardcore Coldplay fans, and you just struck a tender nerve  and Maidenrulz: I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. (heh- I can be a bit over the top affectionwise, maybe it's time to tooone doooown.)

I love Chris Martins voice, I love the sleepiness of the songs of this band, I believe Careful Where you Stand is the best love-song in the world. Ever. And the chordal progressions they come up with? You can't really get much better. Recommendations from X&Y are 'What if', 'X&Y' and 'Twisted Logic'. I can relate to the lyrics in X&Y in some very painful ways at the moment: that's the thing with me and coldplay!! Ever since I first heard Yellow in 2000, their songs always describe my current position in an uncanny way.

Hehehe I'm a Coldplay geek. Though I have to admit it was quite a bad way to get their name. They were PLAYing football. And it was COLD. That's the *only* shame they have

you're talking rubbish IMO.

I love the sleepiness of the songs too.  I used to suffer with insomnia until I heard coldplay.  now I play their albums everynight and fall asleep instantly.

Everything they do is shameful - except for supporting fair-trade.  I reckon they should give up the music and concentrate on the charity.  It worked for Bob Geldof!

rubbish band, rubbish album.  dull, turgid, uninteresting, rehash of 80s style U2 or Echo and the Bunnymen.

Why all the fuss over a mediocre mainstream band.

agree.
they are boring

Compared to yes or dream theater, yes indeed. Compared to most pop bands not in a milion years. They are the most original pop band i find it nice to relax abit from 25 min prog epic.

Agree, everything is relatively speaking...
