RoSfest is pleased and honored to announce Daemonia to our stage as our Headliner for Saturday night May 21st, 2011.
To talk about Daemonia is to talk about famous Goblin keyboardist and producer Claudio Simonetti who in 1999 formed the group Daemonia along with Nicola Di Staso: Guitar, Federico Amorosi: Bass, Titta Tani: Drums, and they recorded the CD "DARIO ARGENTO TRIBUTE", which was released by S4/Sony at the beginning of 2000. The CD contains the new progressive rock arrangements - with the addition of a great symphonic orchestra - of the most famous soundtracks taken from the films of Dario Argento composed by Goblin, Claudio Simonetti, Keith Emerson and Ennio Morricone. In 2001 Daemonia recorded the album "Daemonia - Live... or Dead" with a 30 piece orchestra, containing all of the live versions of "Dario Argento Tribute" plus 3 extra studio bonus tracks: Halloween, Tubular Bells, and Gamma. This album was the first to feature new guitar player Bruno Previtali. In 2000 DAEMONIA played The CULT CON Festival in New York City, a concert organized by their American fans. In October 2002, during a tour in Japan, they recorded the album: "LIVE IN TOKYO" released only for the Asian market. After continuing to tour throughout Europe, they released the DVD "DAEMONIA-LIVE IN LOS ANGELES" which contains their concert recorded live at the 2002 ProgWest Festival in Los Angeles. The DVD box also contains the CD of the soundtrack, composed by Goblin, of the George Romero's film "ZOMBI/DAWN OF THE DEAD", completely recorded with new arrangements by DAEMONIA during the summer 2005. DAEMONIA is recording their new album containing new and unpublished songs with a new female singer Silvia Specchio. Look for Daemonia to bring a killer set to the Majestic Theater on Saturday night. http://www.daemonia.it/ http://www.myspace.com/daemonia http://www.facebook.com/claudiosimonettis.daemonia?ref=ts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hUrKtZ4SuA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First RoSfest Holiday Reunion Party To Be Held The first RoSfest Holiday Reunion Party will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at the First District Plaza Ballroom (New Jersey Room), 3801 Market Street, 3rd Floor, from 8pm until 12 Midnight. RoSfest is honored to announce The Reasoning as the third band on May 22nd - 2011. The Reasoning are a Cardiff-based six-piece rock band, formed in 2005. The band features the song-writing talents of Matthew Cohen (bass), Dylan Thompson (lead guitar/lead vocals) and Rachel Cohen (lead vocals): the latter having been voted Best Female Vocalist by the UK's Classic Rock Society for an unprecedented four consecutive years. Owain Roberts (guitar); Tony Turrell (keyboards/vocals) and Jake Bradford-Sharp (drums) complete this outstanding group of experienced musicians. The band's accomplished debut album, Awakening was released in 2006 and, boasting eight well-crafted tracks and a guest appearance from Marillion's Steve Rothery, has since garnered worldwide critical acclaim. Their second offering in 2008, Dark Angel - mixed by John Mitchell of It Bites and Kino notoriety, secured an enthusiastic and ever-increasing international fan base. The Reasoning released their highly anticipated third studio album in April 2010. Adverse Camber (mixed by Joe Gibb: renowned for his work with Leftfield, Catatonia, Massive Attack and many others) demonstrates a new confidence and maturity, and showcases the band at their very best yet. Whilst remaining true to their trademark "sound", featuring dual guitars, powerful vocal harmonies and irresistibly catchy melodies, this year's album takes The Reasoning into wholly contemporary musical territory, appealing to a wider audience than ever before. The band have toured extensively since 2006, including many headline performances throughout the UK and Europe: and have also performed alongside Marillion and FISH on several occasions. Their success to date continues to be promoted enthusiastically throughout the music media, including many features in magazines such as Classic Rock, Record Collector, Powerplay and Classic Rock Presents Prog. The Reasoning's first single was released as a digital download on August 10th 2009, and this cover version of Duran Duran's classic track "The Chauffeur" rocketed through the download charts, reaching the No.2 slot in the Amazon rankings within just two days of release! 2010 has thus far seen the band win over many new fans with a slot at the inaugural High Voltage festival in London, opening for bands including ZZ Top, Joe Bonamassa and Foreigner. Meanwhile, their limited edition CD Acoustically Speaking - released in July - featured acoustic reworking's of tracks selected from all three studio albums. This was promoted throughout the summer months with a number of acoustic gigs, which were organized by and for The Reasoning's fans, and were enthusiastically embraced. Hot on the heels of their September visit to Scandinavia (including a support slot with Norwegian metal band Pagan's Mind), six UK shows are planned for November 2010, to round off the year in style, and these will coincide with the release of the DVD Highway to High Voltage, which includes full footage from the festival, along with interviews and many extras to boot. Returning to the studio to resume writing as 2010 draws to a close, The Reasoning are aiming high, and welcome you to join them on the RoSfest stage of their musical journey which will take the band in a new direction and onto new horizons. RoSfest presents Yes Tribute band Going For The One for the Friday night after hours party. Going for the One was formed by guitarist John Covach (Land of Chocolate) in the spring of 2009. In a general sense, the group is a Yes tribute band. But from the beginning, Going for the One was conceived more as a repertory ensemble—that is, a group of musicians dedicated to performing a particular body of music in a way that recreates the original performance approach and sound but is not a slavish or literal imitation. No costumes, wigs, or phony accents are employed; rather, the band is focused on faithfully performing Yes music in a manner that keeps it fresh and vital. Going for the One debuted in the fall of 2009 and has since kept up a regular pace of live shows throughout the mid-Atlantic and northeastern states. Covach is joined by founding members Jimmy Warlick (Driven to Tears) on vocals and Chris Meeker (Mind Sky) on bass—the vocal trio of the band. Matt Riddle (Envision) handles the multi-keyboard duties for the group, while Mark Annal (Driven to Tears) anchors the polymetric rhythmic musical textures on the drums. During the 2010-2011 concert seasons, the band performed The Yes Album to celebrate the 40th anniversary of that classic recording. The current set includes music from The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge, Yesterdays, and Going for the One. MOON SAFARI ANNOUNCED FOR ROSFEST 2011The RoSfest crowd is already acquainted with Swedish band Moon Safari, since their 2009 performance. That time, they blew the roof of the Keswick Theater (and afterwards, the tavern).
Call them a progressive band with pop influences, or a pop band with progressive influences. Either way, with their upbeat songwriting and vast melodic sense, Moon Safari has been blowing audiences minds since their debut album "A doorway to summer" released 2005. That time, under the guidance of Tomas Bodin, the younglings sent a ripple through the prog community. Shouting from the rooftops in five part harmonies: "there are some new kids on the block". The progressive world heeded the call and "A doorway..." was acclaimed by critics and fans alike. With the sophomore effort "Blomljud", released in 2008, the band had taken another step. With an array of influences from bands and artists like The Beatles, 10cc, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, IQ and Marillion mixed with 50's vocal groups like The Hi Lo's, Moon Safari once again made their mark on the community. This time it was more of a tsunami than a ripple. The double album "Blomljud" was by many considered "Album of the year" and Moon Safari won an award at the Independent Music Awards for the song "In the countryside". Following the success, Moon Safari played in front of ecstatic crowds at the Prog Resiste Convention in Belgium, both in 2008 and 2010. At the Symforce III-festival in Holland in 2009 and at Winter's End in England 2010. As this is written, the third album "Lover's End" is being shipped to retailers all over the world, and in six months, Moon Safari will ship themselves over to Gettysburg to perform at RoSfest 2011. Tagging along for his first gig with Moon Safari is Pontus and Simon's youngest brother Sebastian. With him filling out the extensive keyboard- guitar- and vocal parts, Moon Safari will deliver a stronger performance than ever! And as a side note: Last time around, guitarist Pontus Åkesson turned 23 while being on stage at the Keswick theater. This year drummer Tobias Lundgren turns 29 on May 20th. Moon Safari is: Petter Sandström: Vocals and acoustic guitar With these guys, and Phideaux, and a Yes tribute band all going to be there - I'm going to have to do everything in my power to make it as well Edited by TheGazzardian - December 13 2010 at 21:40 |

What a show this is shaping up to be! Alas, I will be on my annual motorcycle trip out west, probably camping out by some river, sipping on some tequila blanca, listening to the river flow.
