Shadowfax (US/ Crossover Prog)

 

Looks like we are influenced by which album we heard first wrt Shadowfax. This was mine:

 

and with the opening number New Electric India , a scene/viewpoint was set in my mind.

Reminds me of some Ozric Tentacle album cover art, which of course came later.

A random thought that just occurred to me, how much did the term Art Rock come in to common usage back the due to the really cool album cover art?

Nah - fairly sure it was Pete Townshend who first use the term and he was refering to bands that were formed by students at Art schools and colleges (he himself went to Ealing Art College).

Dean wrote "if the first album is Progressive Rock then they have a chance of being added."

If having one prog album allows you in, that opens the flood gates for all of those jazz artists who made at least one good fusion album.

We are aware of that and that is why I said "...a chance of being added" and not "...will be added".

 

If the non-Prog contribution far outweights the one Prog album then it is very likely that they would be added to Prog Related rather than a full Prog category.

 

When it comes to Jazz fusion, the "fusion" still has to be "Prog"

A) is irrelevant then.

 

B) No - that's why we have Genre teams and an evaluation process - no one can flood our system since only a select few are allowed to add bands. Also the rule is once a band is added their full discography must be listed - with no exceptions - so if we accept a band because of one Prog album then we expect all the non-prog albums to be listed.
