Same here!

Also, seeing GYBE right before the disbanded would have been amazing as well.

A couple of wishes here (Who Genesis Floyd) I've already achieved. I nearly saw Amon Duul II but they cancelled. I did get to see Can tho.

Okay good Doctor, take me back to 1967. I wanna see Hendrix at the Marquee first and then Floyd at Games for May.

RE the post about the "supergroup of the future"ClapBig smileetc. Perhaps we could resurrect Brian Epstein to manage them.

Hi,

It's funny ... I look back at the many concerts I saw and ... there aren't any I want to go see again ... at all ... that is not to say that Hawkwind at the Santa Monica Civic doing the Space Ritual, or Tangerine Dream at the Greek Theater amidst all the lazers and trees on fire (check the live album picture) ... and 500 people getting busted at the Pink floyd concert for just a flippin' joint in their hands ... you could see a hundred cops with binoculers all over the place ... or Roger getting mad at people at Anaheim Stadium ... or ... it took a lot out of it for me, personally.

I learned there was a human side to it all, but in many ways those people were no different than me .. it was never good enough and there always was one little thing that bothered them here or there ... and in this sense I would much rather see something that I have not seen, but wanted to see ...

There is one show I wanted to catch and live through ... and it is Gong and the Floating Anarchy show ... there is no better acid rock assault in my book and that one is the top classic ... that is not to say that I would not enjoy seeing Can, Banco, Grobbshnitt, Guru Guru (with Kraan on the double bill of course!), Kayak and Focus, Terje Rypdal and AshRa Tempel in the same bill and playing together maybe, and definitly catching Egberto Gismonti doing No Caipira !!! And if time allows, I would love to catch Carmen ... showing Jethro Tull and David Bowie that they were lazy and going through the fame motions!

And if it is not 5 AM yet, find sometime to catch Mississipi Charles Bevel just take you away ... not progressive in our sense here, but one of the finest voices and musicians I have ever had the pleasure of seeing in person.

Exoeriencing the best ... out there ... is not too hard ... but it does take a few sacrifices here and there. For some reason, and I do not regret it, I do not harbor fantasies of seeing the likes of Zeppelin, Who (saw them early on before Tommy), Beatles, Rolling Stones and such ... while a lot of their music was important to me, in many ways, the public frenzy turned me off ... I will tell you though that the best bootleg I ever enjoyed was Led Zeppelin ... Live on Blueberry Hill ... and the power, strength and beauty of that show has never showed up in ANY of the redos and material that Jimmy did later on.

Speaking of that ... I want to catch Roy Harper in a band with one lead guitarist that is his close friend ... his name is Jimmy! That would be fun to catch dueling accoustic guitars!

I've heard that too and I agree - it's one of the best "live albums" of all time, IMO

There was a time when I was hurting and I had to let go of some bootlegs ... and letting that one go, was a huge mistake ... I have never found it again, or any listing of it anywhere ... I just love that opening and you can tell that they are "on it" and then some ... that show never lets up.

I don't care if it is prog, or sh*t ... stuff like that deserves credit ... for what it is ... excellent music and performance to boot! And for the time, it was progressive as heck ... compared to the top of the progressive pops that is always discussed here.

I'd ask if he could introduce me to Sarah Jane Smith.

But...screw prog...I'd have him take me far into the future.

yeah, as a lover of what i view as progressive music, i'd go 50 or 100 years in the future... id love to hear what rock music sounds like then, or if it even if it exists. then i might go 5000 years or something and see what music sounds like. that would be incredible.

then id probably go to the rainbow in 1975 to see Hatfield and the north. if i didnt, id always be thinking 'what if?'

5000 years from now, Robert Fripp will have been thawed from a cryogenic freeze before his head is installed in a guitar-playing exoskeleton:

Plus

He will reform King Crimson, this time with the disembodied voice of Jon Anderson (who will exist as something like Zordon from the Power Rangers):

Plus

Since Tony Levin will be long gone (having choked to death on his moustache), Fripp will seek out an alien race that has long, wooden flanges in place of fingers, and give the baldest one among them a bass and amp rig:

He will then seek out one of the only drummers left in the world, Nick Mason.  But Fripp will be unable to convince Mason to give up his newfound life as a Pod Racer:

Plus

Jon, who is ever the optimist, will tell Fripp to "see things through the eyes of a child."  Fripp will unforunately take him literally at first.  Finally understanding Jon, Fripp will assemble a drummer out of Erector Sets and Elmers Glue, and name it Bruford Mark II:

Next, the team must seek out Peter Sinfield, who, rumor has it, has cut himself off from the rest of the world, living as a hermit due to his shame of having anything to do with Love Beach:

Plus

Finally, Fripp and his team will use their combined skills to locate and reanimate the remains of Steve Howe, which will look probably just like this:

King Crimson will play for seven months, at which point Fripp will disband the group.

This is possibly the greatest post this forum has ever had.

Hi,

I missed one ... there was a concert at the Hollywood Bowl once where Herbie Flowers pretty much made Jean Pierre Rampal look like an idiot ... the tape of that show had him running circles ... and having fun while at it ... and I really thought that it really showed the flatulence and the stuffiness of a lot of classical music corporate artists ... not too different than top ten music.

I really would love that show to be shown around a heck of a lot ... so people can finally learn that there are some jazz and rock artists that are miles up and ahead than many "classical" musicians. And this includes many operatic stars.

Its not prog but the one concert I would die to have attended is The Last Waltz...The movie is just enough to spark my imagination. So its The Band November 25, 1976 @  Winterland.
