Get this.  One of the ladies I work with's fiancee is in the marketing department of Frito Lay and from time to time she brings us bags of the flavors "in development" and those lab guys are fiends.  The latest was a margarita flavor dorito that was highly addicting.  Be afraid.  Be very afraid...

Swedish chips are much better than Lays. Thick and tasty. Lays are more like paper...

that's the beauty of U.S. chips, they're so insubstantial you can't stop eating them

When I was in Japan the snacks there were so much more filling. Here in the states not only do you get really small, crumbles of what used to be chips, but these huge bags aren't even half full. So the prices go up but the qaulity goes down. Very sad indeed.

It should be noted, however, that Pringles are very think, satisfying chips!

Sour Cream and Chedder easily. I practically grew up on these chips, out on the boat all summer, my fingers are permenantly stained a nice, rich orange color. BBQ not far behind.

Oh, no! Consumer Reports has just listed Lay's Potato Chips as a great everyday product in their feature article for the May issue.  I'm afraid the magazine may have been taken over by some big corporation.  Although I must admit, Lay's does make a fine potato chip.

They also put in a good word for Smart Balance as a trans-fat-free spread, which my wife and I have already been enjoying for a little while.

I'm fond of Utz Kettle Classics Smokin' Sweet BBQ and Herr's Heinz Ketchup chips (can't seem to find the latter anymore). They really taste like ketchup!

I liked the lamb and mint flavour crisps that were around a little while ago, but haven't seen them recently.
Many years ago I had some baked bean flavour crisps that were pig shaped.

Do Lay's chips still taste like cardboard?  I haven't eaten them since college.

At least the Baked Lay's, although reconstituted, have a little more character, especially the barbecue ones.

I much prefer local/regional brands.  Snyder's of Berlin and Shearer's are the best ones around here (northeast Ohio).
