My favourite von Trier film is The Element of Crime, but I don't like his modern era (since Breaking the Waves). I acknowledge what a huge artist he is, but I can't stand those films. The Element of Crime stands however in my personal top 10 or 15.

hey i have already said... for me Kubrick is overratted, very overrated, Spielberg is with the comercial movies and from Almodovar I saw 4 or 5 movies (which I like very much but the way) but I doesen't saw his filmography, so is not one of my favourite.:)

He had very touching movies, with funny lines, but also very complex. Black Cat, White Cat was, in my opinion his last grand piece of art... Life is a Miracle is good, but something missing. About his last movie (which I didn't saw) I heard is in the same category.
