Funny when, in a bizarre marketing trick back in 1985, they pushed the “new” Coke resulting in a popular uproar and nearly riots, some Coca Cola “experts” could not distinguish between the two in televised blind/”placebo” tests, often confusing Pepsi with Coke and even with independent brands.
No difference for sure.

I prefer Pepsi, but I don't drink either of them anymore because I've
grown tired of the taste and because I've heard that both companies
have had a lot of unpleasant business in third world countries (such as
sponsoring dictators and executing employees who are in the
union).

Neither for me... I am a big water drinker, and avoid soft drinks like the plague - though in the past I have occasionally drunk Coke. In the summer, my favourite drink is iced tea in the Italian style - with sugar and lemon.

I remember that. Yes, that new version coke was not any different than Pepsi. Which was the point, since Pepsi was gaining points.
Then the uproar forced then to reintroduce the "Classic Coke" , which actually doubled their shelf space in supermarkets.
I always thought this reaction was expected and even planned.
I always hated Pepsi, even if don't drink Coke often (twice a year tops), and when I do, I crush half a lemon into the content of a can. This takes away the overly sugar taste away (but only the taste, not the sugar) and then it tastes delicious.
However the lemon diet coke is disgusting (so is the normal diet coke)

Of course, it was planned. I laughed my butt off watching blindfolded guys sipping stuff from urine-test cups and mortgaging their houses to fight for re-instating the original Coke. What a great free publicity stunt. Coca Cola probably saved a bundle suspending all their commercial advertising for a few months. I was just waiting to see how they would bring the old Coke back, gracefully succumbing to the desperate cries of the distressed population. Then the Classic Coke appeared. How special was that!

Oh no... DT is traditional coke, good coke... new coke is like some kind of avant-garde coke... kayo-dot coke?? That's much better! Both are equally, well, tasteless....

And how much a 12 oz (350 ml) can cost in your town/state/country?
Here in Brazil, the price is almost the same everywhere, ranging from USD 0.8 up to 1.0 (in a restaurant, for instance). In many places, Pepsi is a bit cheaper than Coke. However, in a supermarket you can buy a can half the price while in a night club or dancing place it may double.
BTW, I prefer Coke.

Here in Venezuela we have a soda similar to coke and pepsi called KR the same of Peru,in Brazil the sodas with guarana are delicious ,and inca cola of Peru IS GREAT.In Colombia there are very fine sodas and in the future Bolivia will export sodas with real coca to Venezuela.
