I saw this review which was quite interesting...

Also this categorization

They could easily be put in Prog Related too.

Really, if we are considering Led Zeppelin´s inclusion, based on a few songs, I feel that it is only fair Sabbath be considered.
 Sorry, double posted

Bah, ridiculous conclusion.  Since one band that doesn't much belong here is added, another that also doesn't belong should be added as well?  No.  Definitely not.

Black Sabbath influenced EVERYONE in rock and metal of any kind and any genre... does this justify their inclusion here? don't think so.. if we follow this thought, there should be a lot of blues in here, since it was the genre that started everything...

Led Zeppelin isn’t being added I believe, so that excuse is used up. Also the inclusion of Iron Maiden excuse has been so overused it isn’t valid anymore.

^that's true about IM... but, it is indicative of how a "mistake" like inclusion of classic rock/metal bands can be used to suggest other irrelevant bands...

Led Zeppelin is being added.

M@x has confirmed that Led Zeppelin are approved for addition. They must be classified as Prog related.

Now which of the proposers is going to do it?!

They are? Here we go...

I don’t understand why bands are being added and put under “prog-related” then some collabs insist that bands under prog-related aren’t progressive. If they aren’t progressive, why are they on this site?

I guess this is M@X’s doing because he has the final say over everything.

^seems that there isn't unanimity but probably the majority votes for these kinds of inclusions... and it's fair cause not all people can agree with the same point of view..

I know that Santana is being added (I'm not sure who is supposed to be writing the bio...)

I can accept that. Not sure about Zeppelin though, they are out of place here, even if they are in the prog-but-not-prog-at the same time genre.

See now why Prog Related and Proto-Prog are evil categories? They fill the site with non-Prog bands.

^oh,no no no... don't try to distract us with this...

The first DT track I ever heard was "As I Am" and my immediate thought was Sabbath wanna-bes!

I have heard a lot more DT since then so I see this track as an unconcious (perhaps) tribute to Sabbath! Wink

this thread has lost its original point (though not entirely). proghairfunk asked the things for which Black Sabbath can't be in Prog Arcvhies.

After small rightfull answer, the thing deviated (again) in an occasion to discuss things like why Black Sabbath shouldn't be or should be to why bands like Led Zep are gonna be, bands like Iron Maiden and Deep Purple are, to the usual rough interpretation of Proto-Prog (meaning influences of progressive rock that existed previously the concrete period of Progressive Rock) and Prog-Related (meaning bands that are not prog, only progressive or are related by influencing, by alluding, etc.)

same talk over and over again.
